Nursing Students' Uniforms

Published

I was just wondering if we are required to purchased their clothings through the website that they had privided. I feel safer to try them on instead of going online and order them. I'm a very petite girl and it's hard to find clothes that could easily fits me.

well, i would think at least the scrub tops are required. all the information as to what is required and what is not is on the uniform info sheet that was sent to us a while ago.

i'm on the petite side as far as height goes, and their pants come in different lengths. i got the 27.5" inseam.

there are sizing charts on the website, all you have to do is take your measurements and compare them to the sizing chart.

if the scrubs still happen to be larger on you, you could always return them and get a smaller size, you'll still have time. we won't be starting clinicals for a while.

Do you know if we are required to purchased those instruments from the website or can we get them in similar elsewhere? They seem so expensive, don't you think?

i think all that stuff is included in the skills kit we're required to purchase on orientation.

Nope, get a stethoscope, there's a decent one in the book store on campus.

The uniforms just suck, no 2 ways about it. Just order them online, go a size larger because they're tight thru the chest and shoulders.

thanks for the response. i had my eye on a pink littman... hehe.

We'll see what is gonna happen during the orientation. I hope that we're not required to purchase every single one of them on that site :p

You have to have to have 2 sets of uniforms and a lab coat. The thing about the company they use is that the uniforms come with the FCCJ patch and the name tags comes that way too. The RN uniforms are trimmed in blue, the LPN uniforms are trimmed in green. Also, you need the lab coat to wear to pick up your clinical info the day before clinicals.

The skills kit has medical supplies (i.e. foley cath, insulin needles, dressing change) that you will be using in techniques class. You will need a stethoscope and a BP cuff. When you get to clinicals you can decide what other types of equipment you want (scissors, hemostats, etc...)

As far as uniforms, you need two tops, two bottoms, and a lab coat. If you have a lab coat, just buy a FCCJ patch to sew on it. Also need two name tags. And if you don't have your fccj photo id yet, go ahead and get that. You have to wear both the name tag and id while at the hospital.

Can we purchase those uniforms outside as long as they met the school's regulations? I rather have the solid colors than those flowery ones. For some reason, never like it :)

Nope, they're pretty specific about the uniform. I've seen a few people with different white pants but that depends on the clinical instructor. Some are pretty strict. Its the same with the shoes. ALL WHITE leather or leatherlike shoes. My instructor lined us up first day of clinicals to check us out in our uniforms. Its only 16 months though and after that we can wear whatever we want..........

How long before we start the clinical, do you know? I need a sufficient time before ordering them, just not right now. I know there is a nursing uniform shop right by where I live, so hopefully I can pick them there.
