No problem. Just click on the link here and there should be a thread that can help. :) https://allnurses.com/forums/f205/check-here-first-sticky-threads-ongoing-interest-located-here-272271.html

It's the Check here first--Sticky threads of ongoing interest located here thread located at the very top of the Student Assistance forum.

I say it all the time, studying won't do you one iota of good if you are studying in a way that isn't beneficial to YOUR way of learning.

You first have to figure out which style of learning (or combo of) that you are and then construct study habits from there. Are you visual, auditory, hands on?

I know I am an auditory learner w/a mix of hands on learning. So for me to sit and read for hours on end does pretty much nothing for me. What I do is read aloud, verbally explain what I need to learn to my hubby or kids (if they understand what I am telling them, then I know I know the information) I also record my lectures and listen to them every chance I get.

A person who is a visual learner might do well with flash cards, writing notes, etc

There are quite a few websites with the types of learners and how that particular typle of learner can best learn info presented to them.

how would i know if wat typ of learner i am? and what r those learning types? i dont know. sorry. im just an incoming 2nd yr student nurse.. pls educate me.

This link explains the types of learners: http://www.ldpride.net/learningstyles.MI.htm#Learning%20Styles%20Explained

this link explains how the different types of learning styles study best: http://www.ldpride.net/learning_style_work.html

and this one will give a quiz to help you determine which learning style you are: http://www.ldpride.net/learning-style-test.html (need to pay for results :(

but a quick Google search for free learning style tests/quizes will bring up a bunch of free tests to find out which styles is yours

I hope this helps some :wink2:

sorry, now, i'm suspicious. these questions sound like they are coming from an assignment.

  • http://www.vark-learn.com/english/page.asp?p=helpsheets - how do you learn best? this site has information on strategies to help you study better based on whether you are a visual, aural, read/write, kinesthetic or multimodal studier. you click on the modality that best describes you to get study advice. if you are not sure which best suits you, take the questionnaire to find out. click on "questionnaire".

Daytonite, I really like this one!! I could have used it in my "former" life, when I worked as a tutor in the Learning Center of our local community college--the text message-speak in FORMAL writing assignments used to drive me crazy!!

I'm forwarding it to former colleagues right now...

jas.per you need 1:1 help! I dont think we can give you what you need over the internet. Is there someone from your class you can review with? Hire a tutor? Something! I applaud you for getting through the first year, i dont know how you did it but you did! congrats!
