Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

There are also five rights of delegation. Or, are you just referring to the rights of medication administration?

Specializes in Med-Surg, Peds.

in my school, we follow the 5+5 rights, which is just what nanay posted. :)

I've also heard right labs and right vitals. I think it just depends on who you ask.

Daytonite, Yes right for medication administration.

Thanks

Specializes in med surg.

5 rights of delegation please.

Specializes in med/surg, telemetry, IV therapy, mgmt.

The five rights of delegation are:

  1. right task for a specific patient
  2. right circumstances
  3. right person for the job
  4. right communication of the task to be done
  5. right supervision, monitoring, evaluating, and intervention, as needed

Specializes in Med onc, med, surg, now in ICU!.

With drugs, what about right reaction? I use it to remind myself to check for allergies, something that isn't specifically covered in the traditional 5 Rs. You could argue that it is covered under 'right drug' but I like to have the extra prod.
