  1. Yes, I agree with above post that the government must be made guarantor (maybe thru Philhealth???) for those patients who would choose not to come back to pay their bills or those who are not capable of paying at all. In the first place, it's the government's responsibility to provide health care services to the people. With this law, i think the government is sort of "passing the burden" to the private hospitals. How then can private hospitals upgrade their services and equipment if their profit is just enough to cover unpaid patients' bills?
  2. paraw, ive been following your "waiting period" (cant think of any appropriate word right now, sorry) and i am very happy that the day has come! congratulations!
  3. about time!
  4. Im for the abolishment of nursing schools that are below standards. * patient's safety * maintain quality care * maintain nursing professional standards :wink2:
  5. Hi, Try the book "Community Health Nursing Services in the Philippines", as published by the National League of Philippine Government Nurses. Hope this helps. :wink2:
  6. Hi. 5 Traditional rights: right client right drug right dose right time right route 5 additional rights essential for professional nursing practice: right documentation right assessment client's right to education right evaluation client's right to refuse +1 - The right approach :wink2:
  7. Hi Thank you DAYTONITE for the links. Especially the 5-minute or more physical assessment from the mededcenter link. I believe its going to be very useful when i start my clinical rotation next month. Although im done with my physical assessment skills, i find the link very thorough and helpful. Again, thank you.:wink2:
  8. Hi You're not alone. I, myself is a certified procrastinator. And I know that this habit is not doing me any good. I am already a third year nursing student but I still have this problem. I still struggle to really focus on my studies. Im trying everything right now. From posting a study schedule in my study table to "no time for love" rule (heheh...time for things you love to do really). But so far, whats really working for me was what our clinical instructor advised us to do - to always hold a reading material in our hand or bag. So whatever we do, like waiting for somebody or for an activity to begin, we read, or if during breaktime, we read while eating. Although, you can finish 1 page at a time but at least, every minute was productive. Good luck!

Giving a shot is the administering function of a nurse while understanding the human mind and emotions i believe is more of the caring function of the nurse. Its assessing the patient beyond the physical pain.
  10. Maybe you can advise me the names of the schools that you are considering. I will try to get a prospectus from those schools and will email it to you.
  11. Will definitely affect the future of nursing students. For one, new graduates who did not take the philippine board examination yet MAY NOT be able to take it this DECEMBER pending the resolution of the leakage issue and not to mention the very major issue of the unfilled seats in the BON. But as what my sister said, "JUST CONCENTRATE ON YOUR STUDIES FOR NOW AND TRUST THAT EVERYTHING WILL BE BETTER" Good day!
  12. hi. i believe it would be best if you ask the school where you want to enrol for a prospectus. Although the major nursing subjects are the same, each school differ (though very slightly) in the minor subjects that are included in their program. For example, some schools require you to take subjects in religion, others do not. Then some schools require more units in a particular subject while others require less. If you already have a school in mind, maybe I can help you get a prospectus. :wink2: Good day!
  13. i would like to add also that it is advisable to start school during the first semester, meaning beginning june because you will be wasting two summer classes if you start second semester, meaning november. let me explain, the ched ruling is that, we are not allowed to enrol in two major subjects in one semester, and there are 8 major nursing subjects that we have to take. to illustrate: should be: june-oct - health care 1 - 16 units (more or less..heheh..forgot now) nov-mar - health care 2 - 16 units (more or less...again) april - may - ncm 100 - 9 units (summer class) june-oct - ncm 101 - 16 units nov. - mar - ncm 102 - 16 units april -may - ncm 103 - 9 units. (summer class) june - oct - ncm 104 - 16 units nov - mar - ncm 105 - 16 units... so, if you start 2nd semester, it would mean that one of your 16unit major subject which may fall during summer cant be accommodated because we are only allowed to get 9 units during summer. it would mean that you have to skip one summer so that you can enrol your 16unit major in the next semester...hope you understand what im trying to explain here. its just that, i made the same mistake, i started november so here i am, wont be able to take major subjects for two summers, although i can use the 9 units to take my other minor subjects..but really a waste of time. but i dont know if this applies also to schools that practices trimester. dont know how they do it there also. just sharing my experience. anyways, hope youll have a good time here in the philippines.
  14. dont know if others do this also but whenever i feel sleepy after minutes or hours of studying, i turn on the television, watch for like 10-15 minutes, then go back to reading/studying. or, log in to allnurses.com :wink2: , thats what im actually doing right now. i started to feel sleepy few minutes ago, now i feel wide awake again. in 5 minutes, im going to go back to my studying/reading again.
  15. Hi NoMoreBlues Im interested to know also how the nurses evaluate our competency during our clinical rotation. After youre done with your project, I would appreciate if you can post a summary (just a short one) on how we are doing. Good Day!
