Heel slipping in nursing clogs

Total newbie here. I'm starting my nursing program next month and just got a pair of sanitas clogs recommended to me by a midwife friend. they fit nicely but the heel slips off with every step. I looked up reviews and it seems that's SUPPOSED to happen. My question is, will I ever get used to walking in them and look like a professional or am I destined to always look like a drunk, stumbling along in them?

I don't want to wear them in the hopes of getting used to them only to find that I never do and should have returned them for something else. Thanks!

At my nursing school and now at my job we were not allowed to wear clogs....so you might want to return them now before you even start your clinical rotations and have worn the shoes and are forced to keep them due to store policy about worn shoes and clinical policy about no clogs

You're heel is supposed to lift, the shoe is not supposed to slip off. I've seen so many ill-fitting (too big) clogs it's a wonder more people aren't breaking an ankle.

OSHA does not permit open backed shoes in healthcare environments. Or are these healed loafers?

I'm guessing this is the style she means when she says clog. Nursing clogs like Sanita and Dansko have a back but are meant to slide. I love Dansko clogs and they're the only thing I wear when I work.

Yup, they're the style BloomNurseRN posted. I know they're supposed to slip in the heel, I'm more or less wondering if it takes some time to get used to. I put them on and I'm walking very awkwardly in them - clomping a bit.

Qteapi - these are closed back. I checked beforehand to make sure they're approved for my program.

They sound too big. I wear Sanitas and I definitely don't clomp.

Oh ok...the closed back....when you said clogs my mind immediately went to open backs...I wear two pair of socks with my slip on cause if I don't my slip on becomes a flip flop which is not good during a code when I have to move fast!

If the thicker socks don't work, you may want to take them back and get the next smaller size. They should slip but not so much that you feel your foot is sliding out. I can run to a code in my Dansko clogs and never worry about losing one.

THanks! I'm going to try that and wear them on our carpet a bit to see if I can become a bit more graceful! hehe Admittedly, I'm not terribly graceful to begin with so I'll be sure to set the bar nice and low. ;)

There are small heel pads you can put in the back of the shoe to keep it from slipping. It sounds like your shoes are too big though
