Favorite shoes

Nurses Uniform/Gear

Hey y'all! Just curious as to what everyone's preference is for shoes when working at the hospital? I'm graduating soon and want to invest in a good pair. I'm planning on going into either trauma or critical care, if that matters.

I've tried Alegrias and Danskos and my feet and legs feel pretty good at end of a shift but my favorite shoes are my tennis court shoes (Ascics) and a great pair of compression stockings.

I've been playing sports for years so I always stuck to basketball/tennis shoes and they've done well and held up great. I'm currently using Jordan 31s. They're high tops so I have great ankle support and they have little pods that conform the awkward angles on your ankles. In other words, they hug the Achilles very well. They also have really good grip on the hard floors so it's easy to weave around and make quick cuts (just in case you wanna crossover a doctor haha).

lol those nurse crocs look actually very uncomfortable to me. I am amazed when I hear nurses say "those are so cute are they comfortable " and the response is yes lol

I wear nikes to work. A trick I found in nursing school was- good shoes- aka Nike- and good socks. You can go with the tall compression socks- or I would do dry fit from Nike. My feet weren't sore and I would do my 8 hour clinical straight from coming off my 8 hour job... yes got off work at 6am thenclinixals at 8am... my feet were happy all the time.

I still practice this idea as a working nurse now and it really helps me!

Have any of you ever heard of, owned or tried the allbird wool runners? I'm thinking of giving them a try.

Not a nurse (yet), but I bought a pair of Nurse Mates from DSW for my serving job and I absolutely LOVE them. Pricey, but very much worth it to me. You might check out a DSW store for their work shoes and see if you find some you like!

I used to wear Nikes, but lately I've been wearing Sanitas clogs. They're really comfortable, waterproof, and can easily be wiped off if anything horrendous spills on them. They also add height to my short frame lol. I like my Dansko clogs too, but I rotated them out with my Sanitas. When I'm tired of those, I'll go back to my trusty old Nikes.

I'm an OT, waiting tables while in college, i borrowed my mom ugly orthopedic shoes...n fell in love. I now wear Sanita or Dansko nursing; i've never slipped during a transfer or on wet surfaces, but i've rolled an ankle on them a few times without injury. I retire my old Danskos or Sanitas to yard work.

I think this is something that has to be discovered with trial & error since everyone is different. I like athletic shoes that are designed for walking (pretty similar to running shoes). Most of my co-workers wear the clog-like shoes.
