nursing schools. May have screwed myself...

Published

So, I started Columbus States nursing program earlier this fall, and was totally not prepared for the workload. I was working full-time at a job, and my grades slipped too much to continue. Anyways, now i'm just sitting here, not attending any school. I have all of my prereq's done, so i have dunno what to do. Do i just reapply for the program for Fall 2011, and pray i get in again? I see other nursing programs are nearby, such as Mount Carmel and Chamberlin.. They are very expensive, but should i go that route instead? Capital is at capacity right now.

^ i was kinda thinking the same thing ^

Such as: let's say i am accepted and start next fall at the same school. All of those teachers i had previously already know my story, and i'm trying it all over again.. I feel i would be starting off at a disadvantage. Sucks most for me since every other nursing school is 5-6x the amount.

Same thing happened to me. I look at this way, I had my chances -- there's really nothing I can say or do to get back in there.

Re-admission, applying as a brand new student, whatev -- it really puts a student to a disadvantage. For one thing, those same instructors will expect more from you. Look, nursing programs are hard enough --- you don't really want anymore pressure. Instructors who know ur history (may or may not) intend to expect more from you. Maybe that's a good thing? I really don't know.

But for me, I'm not in a hurry to graduate anymore (I WAS). I'll get there, I obviously took the SCENIC route myself. But, I figured it is still hard to get a job for a new grad -- so, what's my hurry? In the meantime, I need to work on my pre-req stuff, TEAS, etc. Maybe, work on another language? I'm not in a hurry to jump in into anything right now, but I will continue to work towards what I want. Plus, I work (that keeps me busy), and I just need to get back into reading/reviewing for the most part. Oh, I keep forgetting to register for next semester (note to self -->> REGISTER MYSELF THIS MONTH, PLEASE!) :D

Oh, if u keep thinking that this school is the only school for ya, what if something goes wrong again the next time? Keep your options open. I assure you, your school keeps it's options open all the time. It's sad to say, you're just another name on their list. That's how the music goes (for all nursing schools).

1. did you just drop the classes or the program?

2. did you drop your classes before the drop date?

3. are the marks on your transcript?

did you drop the classes before the final exam? the grade might not be on your transcript. also if you only dropped your classes then you are still in the program but if you dropped the program then it’s going to be really hard to get back in. see the academic adviser and dean or program coordinator and ask these questions because these not only affect your re-admission at this school but also another you apply to. good luck!! remember everyone makes mistakes, just learn from them and move on... :)

I personally wouldn't go back, no.
