Nursing Schools in the Fayetteville Area

U.S.A. North Carolina

Published

Hello all!

My husband and I will be moving to Fayetteville this summer and I am currently looking for an ADN program. I've been lurking on allnurses for the past couple of days trying to get an idea of which schools to apply to, but I'm having trouble deciding. I was in an ADN program at my previous school, but it looks like I am going to have to start from ground zero with the additional admission requirements that I have to complete (College Chemistry w/lab & NC Nurse Aide I). These are the schools I am looking in to:

- Sandhills CC

- Robeson CC

- Sampson CC

- Central Carolina CC

- Fayetteville Tech CC

Which programs do you all believe are the best to apply to? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

Sandhills is good i heard ftcc is unorganized

Im applying to sandhills i just got accepted there you shouldnt have to restart though

I just applied to FTCC

I agree with @kml0807, ASN about Sandhills. Though I didn't go there I am from Fayetteville and my mom works in Southern Pines. She is taking online classes there now. Had I been smarter in my 20's, I would have definitely went there! But try them all, the hardest part is getting in! Best of Luck!

I did Sandhills PN in 2001. It was very demanding. The instructors (at the time) were tough and strict. Class and clinical time went over the scheduled times. By the end, I was weary of the hour long drive there. I made it through, though. At the time, I didn't have children, only worked on the weekend, and my husband was making great money.

In 2013, I was attempting FTCC LPN to RN transition. As someone mentioned, it was unorganized. I got accepted, went to two orientations, then the day before class, the told me there was a problem with my GPA. After I had already paid for my uniforms! (I only paid because the deadline to pay for uniforms was before classes began.) Also, the schedule for classes was all over the place. There was no way I would be able to maintain my work schedule and do school.

So, I stumbled upon Bladen CC. First off, the staff are extremely nice. They really want you to succeed. I got in the ADN with no trouble. The classes are pretty consistent. I am able to work my evening shift job without interference.

Hi there! do you remember what the points are based on for acceptance into Bladen CC nursing? I know the website says its based on your TEAS score and previous classes taken, but I can't find a breakdown of points. Did you have all of your classes done before you started? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!!

If I remember correctly, they send you the break down of the points in a letter after you apply to the program. (I can't find that letter in all this mess I have going on over here.) When I gave up on FTCC, I looked into BCC's nursing program. I had all I needed except the chemistry. I went ahead and took it there while I waited for time to apply. I also took the ENG 114 that spring, just for extra points. I got in the next fall, and didn't need any additional classes. I suggest you try to get in all the classes you will need now. It seems like the TEAS score was the biggest obstacle for most of the students there. A lot of them in my chemistry class were scoring very low.

Did you like Bladen CC ADN program? Anything you can tell me about the clinical sites or the classes? Did you like your teachers, was the program well organized etc? Any info would be appreciated! I can't seem to find anyone else that has been through their program and I'm hoping to start there in the Fall! Thank you!

Hi! My husband is stationed at Pope Army Airfield. Ive been attending CCCC this past year and will begin the ADN program Fall 2016. They had about 120 applicants and accepted 40. I've heard its a strenuous program, but they have a 92 % first time NCLEX pass rate and graduated 35 students this spring. All of the professors I've had for my co/prerequisite classes have all been very supportive. I've had a great experience with the school so far!
