what r your hobbies? try getting a massage after class, get your feet done, it's very relaxing. get a facial once a week, try accupuncture, very very relaxing!!! let someone else wash your hair and have them massage your scalp while they r at it. these r just some of my favorites. i notice we r the same age, good luck in nursing school, i am still waiting on acceptance letter for spring 09.
Thanks
All of those sound wonderful but expensive. I am only a nursing student, poor one too.
Good Luck to you:nurse:

Exercising is always a good one - go for a walk, go to the gym (most college campuses have one free of charge)..
Try scrapbooking, taking pictures, going to a local park - anything that will help you to relax and destress.
We've all been there.
And those massages - find a massage school - its cheaper then a regular massage as students do them - but its so worth it every once in a while to get one! All the stress just melts away...

I hear you loud and clear. I too am taking Adult Health, and feel that I am on the edge of a breakdown. I've gotten to the point where I just don't want to go anymore... to class, to clinicals, etc. The passion and excitement is gone, and I am questioning my desire to even go into this field. I am late in turning in my first careplan by at least a week, and don't even know if I should bother working on it at all. I have two more that are due tomorrow, and haven't even begun one of them. I've been shirking my responsibilities, and the more I think about them the farther I run from them.
I think that the only thing that can help me at this point is to rediscover my passion for nursing, so that I can be inspired to continue with the program. I know that in my heart of hearts I do want this, but the assignments and the reading are just overwhelming me. I'm sorry that I don't have a solution for you, but at least you know that you aren't alone.

Hang in there! My stomach was in knots especially the further along I got. Seemed that so much more was riding on this endeavor.
There were 3 things I always did. Depended on my mood. I love to bake, and that always would take me away from my worries. Licking batter from a bowl always makes everything better! Another thing I would do was go for a walk just after dinner time. I also tried Yoga and though I am not flexible at all and really don't like to exercise, I was really able to find that center place, pulling my posture back, straigtening my back and taking really good breaths!!

My biggest stress relievers are daydreaming, cooking, eating, and exercise. Sometimes its good to waste stretches of unorganized free time rather than occupying it with stressful activities.

I am also taking adult health. This is my most stressful semester. I find that it helps to plan your week as best you can to make sure you have enough time for school work and studying and work but also to make sure you have YOU time. Set aside time in your week to relax and clear your mind. Remember, to be in a position to help the sick you have to be healthy in all your identities. Good luck to you!:nuke:

massages are awesome. i get one at least every other month. it helps out alot especially with back pain from standing for 12 hours shifts. watching a good movie, especially a comedy, is a great way to relieve stress.

Here's what I do with my stresses whether they be from my work life or my home life or just things that may become a worry for me.
I write about them free-hand, just kind of "hash things out" and get in touch with the sources of my stress. From there I get a clear picture in my mind of what I specifically want help on. And then I ask for the help! Using a 79-cent notebook, I list my desires in affirmative, present tense sentences. I am asking God for help in attracting what I want. But you can think of it as asking your Creator, Jesus Christ, Allah, Buddha, God, the universe, your Higher Power or ANY belief system that you practice.
Some of the parameters I would write about if I were you would be: I am focused during class. I am in tune with the subject matter. I easily comprehend the subject matter. I score well on my tests. I have all the help and resources I need. I score "B's" or better on my tests. I have the proper study partners for me. I quickly get through each subject. I retain what I study. I make good progress with each passing week. I remain calm. I have a positive attitude about nursing school. ETC., ETC., ETC.
Short, direct, simple sentences. Skip lines between sentences.
Ask for what you want...pen to paper is powerful...I blog specifically about tools nurses can use to counter nursing stress. There's a little more to it, but the MOST important part is listing what you want in writing. There is more information at my blog, listed in my profile.
Good luck to you! Keep up the good work and keep asking for what you want in life!:loveya:

I love aromatherapy stuff. I like to use stuff from bath & body works. Some favorites include:
http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2922069&cp=2484528.3214835&view=all&parentPage=family - Stress relief roll-on. I like to use this during tests or while I'm studying. I roll it on my wrist then rub it in and it works nice because I like to rest my head on my hand with my arm on the table so it puts my wrist by nose and I can breathe it in!
http://www.bathandbodyworks.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2922072&cp=2484528.3214838&parentPage=family - H/A relief roll-on. I suffer from headaches all of the time and this stuff helps - just rub/massage it on your temples or the base of your neck. Or rub it on your wrists and just breathe. These things are $10/ea. but they sell the stress relief & H/A relief roll-ons in a pack that is $15, otherwise if you buy them seperately you're paying $20.

pillow mists! I'm currently using the lavender vanilla but I also like the warm milk & honey one. Just spray it on your pillow case (or on sheets or w/e) and let it dry. Mind you this stuff isn't going to KNOCK YOU OUT but it really helps to relax you and help you drift off to dream land.
Yoga is also a good stress-relief...and massages

i've found two things very important to minimizing my stress level: prioritize daily (on paper) and make sure to take short breaks regularly...add in some exercise on the less hectic days
...and always get enough rest!
