nursing school in nycm or long island

can some one help me give me some advice i am a surgical technologist for 8 years i have decided to go to nursing school i have all my pre reqs the proble is that i have an average of 3.0 and all the school in the tri state area (NYC) and long island want a 3.6 average or better or score extremely high on the intrance exam. does any body know a school that will accept me asap i would like to continu my education i've already wasted a year. At this point i reallly don't care about the cost i just want to finish. their has to be some kind of back door to some schools i have good professional references. I was also thinking maybe I should go for PA maybe the competion won't be so hard. I don't understand how it could be a world wide shortage when they make it so hard to enter? any advice. please keep in mind I would help I don't want to be an lpn I want an rn. Thanks sweetie2525

Long Island University wants a 2.75. I spoke to the advisor this morning. You take the nursing courses in two years. I think you may be able to start this semester I'm not sure. Call her.. Ms. Bell 718-488-1513. Let me know how it goes. I don't have Micro and Chem so I have to take those first.

I must warn you, I hear the program is extremely intense.

When you call, ask if you can speak to them in person, and ask if you can start this fall. If you have your transcript handy that would be great when talking to the advisor. And if you already have a degree, let them know. Good luck.

yes, I called the school and spoket to the lady you suggested she said that I had to be in the 75% tile on the nln exam and since i'm not i would have to retake the exam. Thanks for your help

Oh, okay. We never spoke about the NLN. I guess she didn't go that far with me since I need the sciences anyway. Keep searching though. I spoke to Adelphi yesterday and was told 3.0. I'm sure you tried them already since you are in LI.
