Well, there may be a glitch in my nursing school plans...
My husband has pretty much been offered a good job, paying over twice what he makes now (which is only about $10K/year), with benefits, company truck, etc.
The catch is... we'd have to move to a town 60 miles from here to get it. That particular town doesn't have a BSN program, and is over 120 miles away from the BSN program I had planned on applying to... it is where the rad tech program I applied to (and got in) is located, though.
I'm torn about whether or not he should take the job.. I have so much family support and help with my kids here. My oldest goes to a fantastic private school, and my youngest has a sitter who loves him like a Grandma. Plus, if I move.. I could change and try to go back into the rad tech program.. or, I just don't know. There's really no options for my husband getting a good job like that in the town we live in now (VERY small), and I don't know if I could afford to go to school in 2004 unless he got a better job anyway. I'm thinking of just having him move down there, and the boys and I stay here until I finish school. That's 3 years away, though, and then we'd have two households worth of bills.
I'm very torn and can't seem to make a decision. Anyway, if you pray - say a prayer that I'll have some direction... or if you have any advice, my ears/eyes are wide open! :)
Thanks! You guys are the best. :)

But get this (agent especially) - the town that he'll move to if he takes this job... is the same town where my state's medical school is located. My husband seemed excited by this idea (he doesn't put alot of faith into the me-as-a-nurse idea, I guess). *sigh*
Boy that complicates things..
I honestly dont know what to say now.

I honestly have no idea. I know he'd commute to this job if he could, but him moving there is a condition of employment, pretty much.

Thanks for the input you guys. I guess I'll just keeping taking things a day at a time, or a semester at a time, or something. Of course, that same town also has one of the state's best nursing schools as well....
I'll update the thread again when I find out more, in case anyone's wondering. :)
so he's moving to Jackson? or Starkville? Wouldn't Ole Miss or Miss State have a nursing program as well? You're right about it complicating things, doesn't life suck sometimes? when you have made up your mind and made your plan, something comes along and makes you second guess all of your decisions. I really feel for you! :chair:

Thanks Angela! I didn't know you knew so much about Mississippi! LOL :)
Jackson will be where he moves if it all pans out the way they want it to. Ole Miss has a nursing program along with University Medical in Jackson.. I've not heard such great things about them in the past. There's a school in Jackson (Mississippi College) that is reputed to have one of the best nursing programs in the state, but it's a private school so it's pretty expesnive.
Miss State is only 30 miles from where I live now! :) They don't have a nursing program, but they do have a med tech BS degree.
trust me, my knowledge of Mississippi is not voluntary! I work for the US postal service right now and one of the cities we key mail for is Jackson, MS. If I never had to type 39202 or any other MS zip code in my life, I would be a happy woman! :)
Would you be able to maybe get a scholarship for the private nursing school? I bet you could with your grades and being a working mom and all.
One more thing to consider, remember when you decided not to go to rad school and I said, when God closes a door, he opens a window? Maybe your husband getting this job in Jackson in your window...

LOL!
I don't know, I've never been offered a scholarship before, I seem to have no luck with financial aid offices. :)
I know... things will work themselves out, somehow. I just wish that the window wasn't so cloudy still! :)
as far as scholarships go, you could check out http://www.fastweb.com its a scholarship website that I've had some luck with. You could also check the Financial Aid department at the school. Trust me, not all FA departments are pains! I've always had good experiences with both my husband's college and my tech school.

Well speaking from a mother of five's viewpoint I say go for the job/hubby. I know finding a good job is hard these days and sometimes the opportunity comes only once. If he does not mind the commute than I would stay. We moved 7 years ago about 2.5 hours from where both our family members are. While I love my family very much it was not hard. We did fine.
What does your heart and his heart tell you to do?
