Who is joining me in the 7th circle of hell?

This is my last class before Capstone and I am now regretting taking it amidst U.S. History II as that class is an insane amount of work.

So, who will be suffering through this with me?! Anyone??

What is the quiz under?

This quiz is all over the place. The blue print is just stupid, pretty much study everything we have learned. NO guidance whatsoever and they give you almost no times... you have to rush through it. This quiz is 15% of your class grade and they give you a little over 1 minute per question! You barely have time to read the question, no time to consider your options or try to rethink what you have been stress-reading throughout this class... How do you study for this? I'm over this class! Just sad that my 4.0 will drop since I don't see how I will get an A....

I hate this course more than I have ever hated anything ever. I just got kicked out of my quiz when taking it on blackboard. I have emailed the professor so we will see what comes of it. It was not my computer but blackboard because the blackboard website would not open on my Ipad or desktop afterwards. I really hope they let me retake it. If not I am screwed.

How did your group shape up? Anyone helpful?

Hello MBrickle! Check your PM as soon as you can please, Thanks!

I found the quiz - for whatever reason it was not showing up under assignments. I was able to do well on it but the studying I did the last two days? Of no help.

After seeing the email I was so, so glad I took it earlier than I planned. I hope they do everything to rectify the situation. It's certainly not any students fault blackboard failed.

They did. I had to call the professor (per her email) but she reopened it and let me take it again. Thank Goodness. I did ok too, but definitely not great! I am so glad I took everyone's advice and took this class alone because it is taking a lot out of me!

I got a 75. Considering I didn't read, I'm not too upset. So many people fail so I'm ok with the 75.

Sally - will send everything tonight!

And I thought the assessment class was brutal. I had no idea what I was getting into, and I ended up with this class + two other RN-BSN courses at the same time. Ugh. Someone shoot me now, please.

Read, don't read, I don't think it makes much of a difference. The quiz was worded in a manner that it didn't matter if you took the book and stuffed the pages in your head, it wouldn't help that much. The class notes recordings are forever in length, and if this were a ten week course, and you took it by itself, it would still be difficult to get all of the information from the OOH's, class note recordings, readings, critique of the professor assigned article, and critique of the (50+ hours hunting for it) JC article. Nursing Research is purely about survival at this point.

Timing is everything. I sat down to take the quiz and right before I was able to pull up the quiz, Black Board crashed. So, I sat for an hour and a half and waited for Black Board to come back online, and in the downtime, did some cramming.

you are correct that there is no real way to prepare for the quizzes and honestly it is all a chance of good guessing. I did better on quiz one in this course than quiz 2 because you had a little more time to cover material. The fact that they make the quizzes worth 15% of your grade is ridiculous. I took this class by itself and only worked 2 days a week of the 5 weeks of the course. I spent at least 40 hours a week completing and correcting the weekly assignments. IT WAS A HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! Let me know if any one has any questions I can answer to make the process a little more bearable.

Not this class, but 12.5 pts off for using contractions in a section entitled "Personal Reflections"? (this has to do with my older adults coursework). Sooooooo, I did what any reasonable student did who wanted to challenge that contractions were improper in APA 6th Format; I pulled out the two books that were assigned to the course.

First, neither book addresses contractions. Because APA is a formal writing style, then formal writing rules need to be examined. These state merely that contractions "should be avoided", rather than implicitly declaring "Do not use" or "never use", in contrast to usage of other words where there are implicit "never use" rules. This implies discretion and implies that there are circumstances wherein contractions would be appropriate, such as in a section of a paper entitled, "Personal Reflections". My inner narrative voice is not a formal, UTA approved inner voice, apparently, and I must re-examine how I reflect upon life on a daily basis since I am doing it wrong 12.5% of the time.
