  1. This quiz is all over the place. The blue print is just stupid, pretty much study everything we have learned. NO guidance whatsoever and they give you almost no times... you have to rush through it. This quiz is 15% of your class grade and they give you a little over 1 minute per question! You barely have time to read the question, no time to consider your options or try to rethink what you have been stress-reading throughout this class... How do you study for this? I'm over this class! Just sad that my 4.0 will drop since I don't see how I will get an A....
  2. this class is a joke! Who will want to do research after this class?
  3. Ugh anyone else not ready for this quiz? I've heard so many nightmares about it!
  4. yikes. sorry to hear that...I have some friends in this class that also bombed it... they really want lots of explanations or examples from the article to support your answer...my group got an A- but our paper was several pages long and each answer was 1-2 paragraphs long. week 2 is kicking my butt b/c of all the assignments and how to divide it up. Thank god for an amazing group.
  5. Anyone else got a grade but not their graded paper back?
  6. ugh, am I the only one falling asleep every time I open the book! I am still trying to read chapters 1-5! How tedious! Anyone taking the quiz yet? How hard is it?
  7. The class is up on Blackboard! Let the crazy begin!!! Good luck y'all!
  8. Hi! I am also taking this class starting on Monday! Still waiting for the course to show on Blackboard as well.
  9. Hi! I am starting my second semester and I remember feeling the same way you are right now. However, now I can tell you that it is worth it and will use all of the books and the cds. One of the great things about the box is that you get this access to all the books on you computer for free and it makes life easier for you (it's easier to carry one laptop than 4 heavy books) and you will use them for reference in the future (e.x. 2nd hesi exam at the end of 2nd semester) Part from the box, I recommend that you buy the following books: -A good nursing diagnosis reference manual (e.g. Sparks and Taylor) - you need this to do your care plans. $30-40 -Drug Guide (Davis's) - $40 -Fundamental of Success (Nugent + Vitale) - this helps A LOT when studying for the tests. $45 Oh, and let me give you an advise to save you some money, don't buy the scrub pants from El Centro, they are horrible, overpriced and they won't let you return them! I bougth 2 and never used them because they don't fit well. Instead, go to any scrub store and get them there for 12 bucks (black) and some places give you 10% discount if you say you are a nursing student. Good luck!:nuke:
  10. thanks! omg, I was so nervous! I'll see you all on tuesday! Can't believe we are really starting nursing school! It is so exciting!!!
  11. I have a questions... At the orientation they showed us the CD that has the books so we can put it in our laptops, I remeber seeing a DVD case, but when I bought the books (at the library by Parkland hospital ) and looked for the cd i did not find it. I just want to ask if you got it in a DVD case or in a book, I have opened almost all my books and I only found cd's for the virtual clinical, strategies, basic intermediate and advances skills, etc. Please let me know if you got yours and what it looks like! Thanks! See you all in 5 days!
  12. Hi! I will be going to the El centro program for Spring 09. We just had our orientation the 18th. First was trying on the uniforms and ordering them, this was at 10am. At 1:30, Kanora started to talk about books, what to do and what not to do in a hospital, etc etc. She had people from the bookstore explaning prices and dates to buy books, students talking about different organisations, etc. The lottery for the clinicals is almost at the end, I was lucky and got called 7th and got the hospital I wanted. There is normally 4 hospitals, we had Parkland, Baylor, RHD, and 2 VA to pick from. I picked Parkland . If you want to know which hospitals are in the list, go to econnect or look at the class schedule and under the name and section# is the name of the hospital. We will have a 3 day orientation the 20, 21, 22 of January. this is when they will take fingerprints, drugtest, background check.
  13. I also got in to El Centro...
