Nursing Research online starting 5/19

Published

Hello anybody that is taking this course starting 5/19/2014.

I read the previous, quite lengthy thread that has been generated about this course and am now scared to death! I hate working with a group and statistics was not a strong subject for me.

Perhaps we can begin a thread for the upcoming class and provide support for each other during the hard times, then laugh about it when it's over!

And for anyone that has recently taken Nursing Research 4325 online: Do I need my Statistics textbook? Is there a lot of statistics-based math or statistics concepts that I may need to refer to?

Hi MBrickle,

I can't use the email system here, but whatever further advice you have to offer--I'm all ears!

I am starting this class too on 5/19/14. I heard it is really difficult too because you have to be in groups. I am a little nervous about that so I decided to take this class by itself. I hope it goes well. I'm glad that someone started a post so we can communicate with each other.

Mar RN let me know how vulnerable is. I took this class by itself because of previous posts. I am just curious how difficult that class is.

nursing research was a crap storm masked as a chinese fire drill. We got a B in it. I walked out of that final paper grade going ZOMG.. I can't believe we pulled that off. on day 1. our group all exchanged email and cell numbers and started a group text. That is what kept everyone accountable and on task. I can not think of any way easier to communicate with 6 people in different time zones. And yes. Everyone does more than they want to. Some people chip in a little. Some chip in a ton. You can't cry about who is doing what, you've just got to finish. To some people it's wine.. I personally go for purple gatorade and vodka... it's personal preference.. whatever is your rage fuel. Just remember. Every little assignment must be done with 100% effort. Or else when you do the final paper, you're going to realize why you should have done it right the first time.

And if you put all assignments in APA format as they are each due (with proper referencing and citation!!!!) then you will make life MUCH, MUCH easier for week 5!

I am in class with you guys. I am in group 8, how about you?

I would love any information you would share on this class, started today and it is a bit much to think about at first. My email is [email protected].

Thanks for the help!

I am in group 8 as well but I am in class 501. So far it seems kind of difficult because everyone is trying to figure out where to upload their charter report and which question to do. The questions seem very vague so I hope I am doing it right. We shall see. I am so glad that I have other people to vent to that understand my pain, lol.

Same here any info would be greatly appriciated. Tips etc. [email protected]

So are all the papers submitted like research papers in APA format? And someone in a later comment in this thread said that we should submit all the papers in APA with references and citations because it would make the last paper much easier--this first assignment is somehow related to the final paper?

YES! Do everything in APA format up front, it will make revising easier!!

Your assignments the first three weeks (I think - I've already starting blocking out the painful memories of that class) will result in a rough draft of your final paper. Do the APA up front whether or not it's required.

I hated this class. I hate to be so negative about it, but I got a fairly bad group. Two members barely did assignments and I had to check their submissions for plagiarism. One made a good effort but needed a lot of correcting, she was clearly not a native English speaker. And thankfully one other person put some effort into it. I was on the fence about the academic coach until we had a disagreement over point deductions on the final agreement. I quoted my rebuttal straight out of my APA manual. Her response was that "well Purdue OWL says..." and after I looked up what they said, they she wasn't even correct about that.

I've seriously considered email the course coach or dean over it because it was such a stupid response I almost couldn't believe it.

Yes give me all of yey emails and I will email you all of the things I got that were very helpful!!
