Am I reading this right? The bill is SB 1159, which looks like it passed to me when I look it up on the California legislature website -- with the following language: "SEC. 2. Section 135.5 is added to the Business and Professions Code, to read: 135.5. (a) The Legislature finds and declares that it is in the best interests of the State of California to provide persons who are not lawfully present in the United States with the state benefits provided by all licensing acts of entities within the department, and therefore enacts this section pursuant to subsection (d) of Section 1621 of Title 8 of the United States Code. (b) Notwithstanding subdivision (a) of Section 30, and except as required by subdivision (e) of Section 7583.23, no entity within the department shall deny licensure to an applicant based on his or her citizenship status or immigration status. © Every board within the department shall implement all required regulatory or procedural changes necessary to implement this section no later than January 1, 2016. A board may implement the provisions of this section at any time prior to January 1, 2016." So are all the papers submitted like research papers in APA format? And someone in a later comment in this thread said that we should submit all the papers in APA with references and citations because it would make the last paper much easier--this first assignment is somehow related to the final paper?

Since you have a psych degree then you must know APA style and that means you'll do very well. It's been mostly research and papers, research and papers, lots of papers.

Hello anybody that is taking this course starting 5/19/2014. I read the previous, quite lengthy thread that has been generated about this course and am now scared to death! I hate working with a group and statistics was not a strong subject for me. Perhaps we can begin a thread for the upcoming class and provide support for each other during the hard times, then laugh about it when it's over! And for anyone that has recently taken Nursing Research 4325 online: Do I need my Statistics textbook? Is there a lot of statistics-based math or statistics concepts that I may need to refer to?

I forgot to mention--at least online, I thought Public Health was particularly time consuming.

Hi Sarah, There's been a couple of previous threads related to this topic, and the general consensus seems to be that Holistic Health Assessment is probably best taken alone. I'm in the online RN-BSN program, so my experience may have been different. I have been able to take two classes simultaneously, but have been kept very busy, with lots of late nights writing papers. I work part time nights. I couldn't recommend two classes at once for someone working full-time and maintaining a family life. Good luck!

The Texas BON was considering an amendment to the Nurse Practice Act that stated that if a nurse made a mistake while working overtime (>36 hours/week), the fact that he/she was "overworked" would be held against them in their hearing before the BON. Does anyone know if this passed?

We're thinking more Brownsville than McAllen--coastal primarily. In the ER there's no such thing as ratios so it's not a biggie. I've mostly heard that it's super litigious.

We're thinking about moving back to Texas from California. Anyone with experience in the Valley? I've heard horror stories...and not about the weather (we used to live and work in Houston so nothing weather-wise scares me). My niche is the ED if it makes any difference. Thanks in advance, Tex-Dot
