Doctors Without Borders hires nurses. They just use "doctors" in their name for the cachet of it.

What are some good opportunities for nursing overseas, preferably Africa?Kind of like Doctors Without Borders, but something for nurses.
The majority of "Doctors without Borders" are nurses, as they are more well represented in that group than actual Doctors are.
And frequently the NGO is headed and led by nurses.
My understanding is that they require extensive appropriate experience, and being fluent in another language is quite helpful. Several of my coworkers work extended assignments with them and per diem at my facility when off assignment. They tend to be single, without a lot of other obligations, and spend sparingly/live frugally when stateside.
It sounds adventurious by has a certain amount of obligations and responsibilities that come with it, as well as you represent yourself to the world. The coworkers that I know are often running/in charge of clinics and it is heavy responsibility in dangerous circumstances.
There is Mercy Ships - they tend to stick to the east African coast. It's a great organization, but you must pay for room/board on ship and they do not pay any transportation costs.
