Question about becoming a CRNA...?
I am interested in becoming a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. I have a couple of questions about pursuing this career option. I know some colleges require you to have 5+ years working in the Acute Care setting before you will even be considered for the program, but can this experience be excluded if I am already an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner? Also, what are some good schools for Nurse Anesthesia? I have read USNews and News Report's list of the best, but I would prefer someone who has first-hand knowledge. Thanks. Please do not be rude, as I am just trying to find out some important details.

Specialty Nursing Schools
I live in Kentucky, and, as far as I know, no schools in my state offer the program I want. I want to become an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner. University of Kentucky offers an NP program, but it is not specific to this program. What are the schools that offer this program, on the eastern side of the U.S.? I apologize if I am posting a lot, but I have a lot of questions.

Can I have two nursing specialties?
Can I be a nurse practitioner and a nurse anesthetist? Is it possible to have two specialties? Edit: I am not wondering if it is possible to switch, I am wondering if it is possible to work as both specialties. Also, I know you probably couldn't because of time, but is it legally possible?

Question about nurses and prescriptions?
Why can nurse practitioners write prescriptions, but nurse anesthetists cannot? I know practitioners can't write them in Georgia, but anesthetists can't anywhere. Nurse anesthetists are at the top of their field, yet they don't have the power to write prescriptions? Why is this? Can CRNAs write prescriptions in any state?
