Online Microbiology and Human Growth & Development

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Starts in January!! Finished up A&P 2, English Comp I, and Sociology this semester on campus. I am excited to have the chance to take classes online through CCCOnline. This will be SO much nicer with my work schedule and no commuting to class. I'm a good self studier so this should work out well. Already ordered my books, just have the lab kit and microscope to order. I'll order those items first week in January. Lab at home should be interesting. Looking forward to it! :)

Kelly,

Which home school did you attend and what is the course number for Human Growth and Development? Also, was all your exams done online?

Thnx

This is my first time taking classes online, so I don't know yet exactly how it works but I do know it is all done online as far as exams go. hth's

I looked all over online for a cheaper Micro book and couldn't find one that matched the ISBN # of the book I needed. Where the ISBN # came up it said unavailable, even through Amazon and Barnes and Noble. :o So, the book ended up costing $148 shipped.

I'm taking Micro through Colorado Northwestern, which home college are you using? It would be great to study together. The at home kit site says the kits won't be available until January 3rd, I believe. Which is okay with me because it will be easier to pay for next month. :)

Hi Kelley

I went to the McGraw-Hill website to find the ISBN they sent us in the email and it does not exist. Is the book you bought the abbreviated one that has only chapters 1-17 or is it the full version? I am ordering my Microscope and kit today too!

Are the microscopes and lab kits mandatory?

Yes, they are. You don't have to buy the microscope if you have access to one with an oil immersion lens.

I don't know why I was under the impression that the labs were virtual for ccconline. I looked on the site for the lab kit and microscope info and wow...that's a lotta money.

ALthough I think the lab kit gets "used up" during the semester, I am hoping I can sell the microscope after it is over.

I stayed on the safe side and ordered it from the Colorado school store as I couldn't find it anywhere either. It came with the Microbes in Motion CD and the OLC number inside. I found the microbes in Motion CD with another Microbiology book. So, it seems they mixed a CD with this book that doesn't normally come with it. hth's

Yeah, I asked around hoping someone had access to one with no luck.

I am also interested in ccconline's Micro. I just can't believe how much it costs.

Approximately:

$560 for tuition

$140 for the text

$79 for the microscope (Additional charges for accessories)

$140 for the lab

Wow, that's a grand total of $919.00

Is it me or is this a little over the top?

I know someone that took Micro with them in the past and the labs were online; I guess they must have changed it recently. Yes, it's kind of expensive, but I'll probably end up doing it anyways. You guys that are taking it now please share your experiences if possible.
