Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

In trying to tackle as many of the prerequisites I can in a short amount, I was informed of an online course option that was offered through Geneva College via Portage Learning.

I have searched and searched to find detailed reviews of people who have taken a course - to no avail!

If anyone has taken a course from these providers, could you please give me your feedback?

As much information as possible would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you all in advance!

By the way, I had to put chemistry aside for the past few months but now am about to start working on it full-time because I need to finish by May 10 or I lose my spot in the program I was accepted into (pretty likely at this point!). Anyone out there want to have a race? The competition would help motivate me! By the way, I use Quizlet cards from user "IM24601" for memorizing lists - they are based on Portage classes. Any other resources anyone knows of would be helpful too!

Specializes in Perinatal.

Does anyone know if you have to answer every test question? I have two that I don't even know where to start...

ONLY TWO you don't know where to start with? On the pretest? Wow! They don't count so just put your best guess and then when you see the results save the answers to study for when you get to that section in the course. Meanwhile I'm just struggling to remember how to SPELL kemistry.

PORTAGE LEARNING: Grading

Wondering whether there are + and - in classes on Portage. Just finished with an 89 in nutrition which would be a B+. A B would drag down my offline GPA. Anyone know? Also, I noticed people saying tests were open book but I thought they were all closed book. Anyone know?

Anyother feedback or portage chemistry course? Was it difficult to get through?

I'm doing their Human Development and basic math course. I like both.

Is it really self paced? how are exams formatted?

Do you know how it shows on a transcript? i went to the schools course catalog and the "portage" courses have their own section making as if they are classes that normal students wouldnt take?

THanks!

I'm confused by your question. When you write that you "went to schools course catalog," what schools do you mean? Need more precision. Give me a link and show me and I will better try to answer you.

So far as "self paced," yes.

So far as formatting of exams, please be more precise in what you're asking. Do you mean are they multiple choice? Essay? Please be more clear in what you want to know and I'd be happy to answer.

I am also curious about the Chemistry course because I have to take it through Portage Learning for my program. I am also wondering how testing works. Also, would I have to write any papers? Is 2 months enough time to complete the course if not taking any others? Thanks for any input!

I have not taken chemistry, only Human Development and Nutrition. Tests are a combination of multiple choice and essay. It is self paced.

Thank you. This actually answers the question regarding the testing format. And I assume, we take all test at home on our own time?

This sounds like a really good and flexible program so far :-)
