I would ask them about being able to test out. My school uses the Calculate with Confidence book, but we don't actually have a class for it. It is self-study and we will have 3 tests over the summer semester over the material. So, I think it would be doable to take the test just using the book, but it would have to be okay with your nursing program.
EDIT: Seems we posted at the same time. I would say that if the class isn't mandatory you should be able to pass the test with self-study of the book, as everyone who has gone through my program has done it :)
Will another math course be offered in the program? I knew someone in my program that tested out of the math course but she took it anyway to be better familiar with med math formulas. If an actual course is offered within the nursing program I'd say to test now and focus on the material then but if not it would benefit you to take the course so that you have a strong math foundation for clinical and NCLEX. Good Luck!!

We have to take a dosage calculation class before we can turn in our nursing application and they have 3 options listed and only one is doable for me. It's at night one day a week for 3 weeks but I'd have to wait around after work for 3 hours. I'm just wondering if I could just buy the book they use and study on my own? They have a practice test online and I got almost all of them right. I think they use calculate with confidence. Has anyone taken the class or test and do you think I actually need the class to pass the test? Thanks so much:)
