Anybody know of any? I'm desperate.
Edited to add: but I'm not so desperate I need these Don Lupre/get rich quick spam type scams. I've been getting pummeled with PM's promising every kind of pipe dream there is.
I was looking for legitimate ways to realistically work from home and just wondered if, by chance there were any out there.
Guess I got my answer.

I just saw an ad for case managers that said there's a possiblity of working from home once you've gone through orientation.
My neighbor, an RN worked for an insurance company in another state, and they had her telecommute when she moved here.

Transcription? Telephone triage? Insurance case management?
I know a nurse who bought all this expensive equipment and tried to start a transcription business from home. Come to find out, most hospitals have started offering this service to the doctors for free. Now she has all this junk.
I wondered about medical coder. I wonder how a person gets into that?

Intellicare offers a work from home environment after going through orientation. They have 2 divisions....disease management and triage nursing.

My mother went thru 6 months of classes to become a medical coder. Competition is fierce for these jobs, and they pay apprx. $10-15 per hour. Needless to say, my mom stayed at her job as an admin assistant at an HMO and keeps her $35,000 salary despite getting certified as a coder.
How do you break into this?

Back AWAY from the transcription field.
I was a transcriptionist for 15 years. There are many school out there who will promise you big bucks once you graduate from their program and that you can work at home. I promise you, you will not make any money working at home. If you don't care about money and have another source of income (parents, husband, trust fund) then go for it. It's a wonderful job but the pay sucks. I had to get out of it because I was making less money all the time. I loved the job but the field is going down the toilet. More and more jobs are being outsourced overseas. Those that remain are taken by women who won't open their mouths to advocate for better working conditions and wages. They don't want to rock the boat and risk being able to work at home.
PRoceed with caution.
