When to Follow Up After Dropping Off Resume?

Hey everyone,

Just wondering when it would be appropriate to call the person in charge of hiring after dropping off your resume?

I applied to a long term care facility on Tuesday and was able to speak to the director of care at the facility and was told by the director that he would call me this week to schedule an interview. I still live with my parents and am quite obedient towards them. My mother has been PUSHING me to call the director back TODAY but I'm thinking that if I do not receive a call (and I haven't yet, it's 1313 on a Friday) that I would just call back on Monday because I don't think he'll be around on the weekend. I have known him since he was looking after my grandmother in the hospital and in her care home for about 2 years. He is also looking to hire RNs and CNAs and "everyone" apparently. I didn't even know that he was also looking for LPNs until he told me, I just wanted to drop off a resume so I could be considered for a position in the future.

would it be rude if I called him first even though he said that HE would call me??? I feel like if I called him today I would come off as rude, annoying, and pushy, not respecting him and his busy schedule.

He mentioned to you specifically that he is hiring LPNs, he knows who you are and it's clear he hasn't forgotten you. Just be patient and wait for him to call you, he may have been too busy to call you this week.

I'd follow up after 1 week had passed. I'm assuming that he told you he'd call you back this week and did not. I would have called on the Friday of the week he said he'd call you.

So I had my interview yesterday! The director of care said that hopefully tomorrow, which is now today that he would call me. He also told me that he couldn't hire me at my grandmother's care home because it's a conflict of interest.

I put down a classmate and a work colleague as 2 of my 3 references but was told that I couldn't use them. My references had to be supervisors or instructors. I was able to use my colleague last time for another facility I applied. I ended up giving him a couple of people that I used last time as a reference on my resume when I applied to another facility-an instructor and my manager. My manager is aware that I am looking for another place to work in addition to continuing to work in the facility in which she hired me, she asked me during my performance review if I was applying for other jobs. The instructor that I asked to use as my reference did agree to be my reference this year...

I don't have a lot of job application experience...

For the instructor and manager I provided to the director as references, should i have told the director that I wanted to ask them first if it was still okay to use them as references, even though I had their consent prior to applying to the director's facility? What are my chances of getting hired?
