The initial ads showed baby bottles topped with asthma inhalers and insulin syringes???

Isn't that overkill? Reminds me of the "militant" lactation consultants who bully new mothers by refering to formula as "poison", and accusing formula feeding parents of harming their newborns.

It sounds perfectly reasonable to me that these ads were changed. Inflammatory tactics have no place in parent education.

The ads WERE overkill! That said, the PTB should not be caving to the formula co's.

Surely, ads could have been created that were more tasteful and served the purpose--to promote bfdg as a foundation for lifelong health.

I think it's silly that these ads are even being made. I doubt someone is going to breastfeed because they saw an ad. If we really want to look at increasing breastfeeding rates, the government would do something like increase maternity leaves and actually PAY women while they were out. It's a lot harder for a woman to breastfeed when she has to go back to work after only six weeks.

It's not surprising -- the entire time this sorry administration has been in power, they've been reworking science to accommodate their friends in Big Business. This is just one more example (fortunately, it's a relatively minor one ...)

O sheesh---I saw a story on the news about this-they quoted a woman that actually said " If I knew that breast feeding was better for my baby I would have done it" HELLO? What are boobs for? Hospitals are also going to have to start cutting back on the formula give -aways and promote breastfeeding or at least present both options equally.The formula industry is really freaking out....IMHO they should just start working on tube feeding formulas-big money there.I had a family member ask me about a formula that would help her fathers "old timer's" She might have something there.....
