Nursing Informatics Preceptor

Hello, I am in a MSN-MHI program and need to find my own preceptor. My preceptor will need to be a MSN prepared nurse with an active RN license and a minimum of two years’ experience within informatics. I just don’t know where to look. I have asked friends if they knew anyone, but no luck there. I have also reached out to a couple hospitals and no luck there either. I’m not sure where to go to look and ask someone.

Many big hospital systems have informatics nurses.  I would call around to local hospital systems.  Does your preceptor need to be local to you?

It depends on the site where the preceptor is. I would prefer local but if remote is my o my option I would not be opposed.

I had to find my own preceptors in both my BSN and MSN programs.  I just called every local company/agency for the setting I needed until someone agreed to take me.  If you can talk to an actual nurse (not just whoever answers the phone) you should find someone that can accommodate you.  However, it's possible that Covid restrictions will make it more difficult since so many in IT are working from home.
