Hello all!
Has anyone taken the perioperative nursing program through Grant MacEwan?
- What did you think of it?
- Did you do it distance?
- Did it prepare you well?
- How long did it take you?
- Any tips?
Thank you so much

If you don't mind me asking, did you get accepted into the nursing program? if so what was your average?
As it's a speciality program for nurses who are already RNs, I don't think they look at your marks from school.

The perioperative course is also available to LPNs. The only difference is a unit on supervisory skills.
The time frame is outlined in the course outline. AHS offers educational funding for employed LPNs and RNs to take the training and are then required to work one year in the ORs.
The course work isn't difficult. The practicum placement is the issue. You are placed in an OR and are required to work the preceptor's rotation. Your preceptor will make or break you.
If you are an "alpha" type personality you will thrive in the OR.
