April fools is tomorrow!!! Need ideas for night shift! ;-)

Hello fellow nurses, so I know some of us are probably working tomorrow for April fools day. Anybody have any fun harmless pranks they'd like to share? I work on a postpartum floor and me an my coworker are trying to come up with simple harmless pranks to do tonight. Anyone want to share a story of pranks you've done on the past? I would love to hear it. I just need some ideas. Thanks!!

One time a charge nurse made a bogus assignment and had 50% of the staff "float" Which was funny considering the acuity and staffing needs. Only one person fell for it, the rest at first stared at it, looked at the assignments, and it took a while, but it was a good joke..

We took all the empty charts and gave them the names of FF* patients. Put their names on the board, then- at 0630- went around turning on call lights and putting beeping IV pumps in the FF's supposed rooms. Then we hid- and when days started showing up, we started dialing the station number from our cells.

It. Was. Epic!

I was talking to a nurse about a former FF of ours (almost weekly until he passed) and told this story. One time he was certain he was supposed to have a script to take home so i called the unit phone on my own cell phone to verify with his nurse. Next thing I know, he demands that he has to talk to the nurse himself! I tried putting it on speakerphone.....fail. Patient ends up with my cellphone on his face (gross!) until his ride arrives. Lots of purple wipes later.......

When I finished telling the story, the nurse I told it to says to me "Yeah I've had him a few times. He had a history of TB if I recall." I just looked at her until she started laughing......:roflmao:

Turn the toaster in the break room around backwards. Put a note on it, "New, voice activated."
