Good day,
Hello! I`m a Bachelor of Science in Nursing graduate from the Philippines. Unluckily I didn`t passed my board exam in the Philippines. I`m now here in Nova Scotia, Canada with my credentials (Nursing Diploma and Transcript of Records) with me. I`m a landed immigrant by the way after my father get a chance to get me. Can I still have a chance to be an LPN here or RN if ever. Would you recommend what should I do? Hope you can help! Thanks a lot and More Power to all on the Health Care Field.
requirements will be on the college of LPN provincial website, they will be able to let you know if you can sit the exam howver you may have no choice but put in for assessment.
You may find it easier and cheaper to take NLE and pass it and then apply to the province you wish to live and work
i still dont know the exact process. but the website for CNO is Application & Membership Fees - CNO as for the other provinces i also dont know the exact process. im just discourage right now to apply since there are not much of work if i will apply for RPN. after taking NCLEX ill start searching more in depth for the application to take the CRNE. please keep us updated if u find a province that doesnt ask for a local license.
me too.. i'm discouraged right now.. but i will still find ways to be respected.. to give justice to myself after studying 4yrs. nursing course in the phil. wish us all (gradauted nurse) luck here in new found land! KEEP UP POSTED GUYS.. have a safe day to all on health care field. "always be for others and be with others also." keep your feet on the ground always.

To gain a better understanding of CNO's application process answer the questions for the requirements
Start with Requirement 1 Completion of an acceptable nursing or practical nursing program and use the Next button to move to the next question. Requirement 1: Completion of an acceptable nursing or practical nursing program - CNO
Nova Scotia does require registering with the licensing body where you did your training. Emailing them and asking is usually swift, I have found them quick in replying to emails
Hi to all. I dont know in other province but in CNO, one of the requirement for registration as a Nurse is to be registered as a nurse in your home country OR TO BE ELIGIBLE TO TAKE THE EXAM IN YOU HOME COUNTRY. Even though you are not registered, atleast you are eligible to take the exam you can still meet the requirement. For more details call CNO or email them regarding this concern. The reason behind this requirement is for the CNO knows that your nursing education is LEGAL in your home country, and not just because if or not registered as a nurse. To all hopeful applicant. I suggest to call CNO... :)
The CNO used to require that IENs be licensed in the country where they trained, but the licence requirement changed. Now the requirement is registration or eligibility for registration in the jurisdiction where you completed your nursing program. See requirement number 5 from the question link I posted earlier.
To the OP, you stated you failed the exam when you attempted it. Why do you think you will have more luck with either CRNE or CPNRE?
You need to learn about Canadian nursing to successfully pass either of those. I've worked with nurses from the Phillipines who have failed both exams. You need to brush up your English as well, learn the proper tenses because there are very small differences that affect care depending on which word you use.
The exams are there to protect the Canadian public and to ensure that nurses have the same knowledge and skill set that a locally educated nurse in whatever province has.

you do learn things from the book and through experience. no matter how many times u failed it doesnt mean u are incapable of doing it properly.
what i believe is that a human body is still a human body. no matter what you try to do with it its still a human body. no matter what happens it is still a human body as long as that body belongs to a human.
the only approach that is needed is to adapt to the modern ways to care for it -that is what the staff development in hospitals do. even tho u are a graduate in that country you have to adapt on how to work in certain places since its not really how it is in the real world. its just my opinion.
everybody has an equal rights especially in canada.

CNO application cost +600$ CAN for RN. and its a lot of money. i cannot afford that much just for evaluation. and there are at least 10 provinces. that will cost a great fortune if i will have them just to evaluate my credentials.
