Hey guys! So I have a question about Fayetteville Techs nursing program. I start in January!!! So exited I can't hardly contain myself but anyway, I have read reviews from 2012 that say it's unorganized but every time I've contacted them and had questions they've been great about keeping me up to date and answering my questions. Just wondering if anyone had any new reviews? Has the program changed in the last few years? Just want to know what I'm walking into! Thanks y'all

How many points did you have Im applying but it only says that there are 40 pointed u can get and everyone is saying they have more
I had 63 points and almost everyone I talked to had between 30 and 40. Some of them made it and some didn't. I'm not sure the top number of points for our class though. I know two of the girls that I know, and also got in the program had 57 points and I know you can get more points than I did but I don't know the exact number. However, as long as you make A's and B's on the classes that they look at and calculate into points you will be fine! I would also see if there was anything else on the competitive points list that you could get extra points for, like the Nurse Aid.

I've heard that they have changed a lot of things with FTCCs program over the years. I applied for start of Fall 2018 though, so I'm honestly no help with facts. But I was wondering, how do you calculate how many points you have exactly? I've tried and I just don't understand I guess. Lol. Super nervous though.
Your grades in the required classes are some of the things you calculate so if you have an A in Bio 168 you get four points, a B in bio 168 you would say three points and so on. When I talked to the director of the program she told me that it really changes each semester, as far as how many points you need to get in because obviously there's a new set of applicants each time so it just depends on how many points they have that kind of determines how many you will need to be accepted.
Makes sense. But I take BIO 168 and BIO 169 in spring and summer.. I asked them over and over again if I should wait until I at least take BIO 168 and apply for the following semester for entry, but the nursing advisor said nope it will be fine and the lady submitted my application anyways. Lol. That's mostly why I'm nervous, but she said she went over all my stuff and it looked good so, idk. We'll see I guess. Lol. I think I'd get "provisionally" accepted, pending those grades before August, at least I hope so
Yep you can actually take bio 168 along with your first nursing classes now because they changed the curriculum however you have to have a B in both 168 and 169 to move past your third semester so I reccomend taking them before applying that way if you don't come out with a B you can retake them before starting nursing classes because it's a lot to take those along with your nursing classes.
Well that's good to know. But one of the nursing instructors already sent in my application for fall 2017 so kinda can't wait now. Lol. But I won't be taking them at the same time.. I take bio 168 in spring, and 169 summer. And then I'd start the RN program in the fall.

Hello and congratulations on getting into the program!
I graduate in May and hopefully am posting in time to answer some of your questions.
The program was unorganized when we started to a point. It was hectic, but it was also a big transition into a type of program I never experienced before. Instead of go to class kind of study and your good it became a do it yourself. You need to bring yourself to the plate and make sure you understand the material because no one is going to hold your hand.
Faculty are wonderful, but they are getting used to the transition in programs (going from one nursing class to a new one in Jan.). So I think the program is disorganized because it is something new they are doing. You will have your exams online as opposed to paper and scantron.
One of the biggest complaints I hear from fellow peers is when a question seems unfair on an exam, and everyone agrees so but the instructors won't change it.
As I have progressed the program has gotten better, we used to be unsure of what to study for but I think they have worked on that and now with the learning objectives/exemplars it is much clearer what should be focused on. (It also means that I have grown as a student and learned how to study).
I think the faculty is working very hard to put together a program that you will do well in. But there is a transition period, and hopefully you will get a good experience too!
If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
Thanks for the insight! But I'm currently still waiting to hear if I got accepted or not for start of Fall 2018, so this August. What was the accepting like? Like points, and how many get in, and anything else you can tell me about it. Lol. I'm so nervous.
Well I remember I was super nervous about getting in too! I think they have changed the points system since I got accepted, but I can tell you not to worry too much! The accepting is not bad, once you get the invite to meet it's pretty much a go from there that you'll be accepted! They took a lot of students last semester, so I think you have a pretty good chance! There are several of my classmates who are fresh out of school (having done the prereqs) so I think your chances are pretty good!
What are you nervous about?
What happens when you meet? And I'm just nervous I won't be accepted. Lol. All my grades and everything are good though.
