Depending on where you are in northern CA, you may be able to find work just as well as anywhere else. Rural areas are generally a good bet, and I would have to imagine that staying clear of towns like Chico, Sac, Santa Rosa, etc. where there are RN programs would help. If you have a BSN, Humboldt County might not be bad, but I know College of the Redwoods still has an ADN program (HSU did away with their BSN program a couple of years ago). It's really a matter of what you're open to and what you're looking for. If you're open to a rural area for awhile, you could easily stay in CA. Do a Google search, submit as many apps online as possible, and plan on a road trip for interviews. Good luck with your search!
