Does your career affect your dreams? What dreams have you had that were a result of a different day at work or stress or the opposite, content? If you remember any I would love for you to post them. I just woke up from one of those that's why I've decided to start this thread.. but it was about my school not so much about nursing itself but served as a great inspiration. I remembered why I can't wait to go through all of this. So have you had any dreams where you are communicating with patients or working very hard or plain "partying" at the hospital? :) Do you dream about your work often?

Im a 4th semester student, graduating this spring. Lately many of my dreams are about being a nurse in practice. In one last week I was an ER nurse and delivered an HIV+ baby to a person I know in real life (who is not HIV + nor pregnant!) THe doc was one of the cute guys from LOST who told me "Wow, you even wore gloves! I am impressed that you know what you are doing!"
In another dream I was a nurse waiting at a bus stop to get to work with one of my classmates who was also a nurse. We were happy that we were finally working and not going to school.
I also recently had a recurring dream where I have to get to class, I'm late, can't find the class, have to climb a lot of stairs, finally get there and I don't have my work and I'm in the wrong class anyway. But this time I dreamed I got there on time with no trouble and the teacher said I don't need to take the class but why don't I go have lunch instead. I loved that one! :)
Again last night, I was a nurse but the dream focused instead on our pet rats lol

I dream about work quite a bit. I'm glad it's not just me. One time I dreamt that we got meds not out of pyxis but a wooden lock box smaller than a toolbox. It was old and you had to have a special medievel key.
I also dream sometimes that I'm gonna fail miserably in tons of courses and I won't pass the program. Of course I'm really not going to school at the moment so when I wake up, it's a relief.

I've had this dream more than once: I come to work on the floor at the nursing home, and I'm waaaay behind. Nothing is getting done and people are complaining about not getting their medicine.
The work just keeps piling up and I realize I am about the most incompetent, inept person in the world.

Dreams can be redirected to positive ones, just think of the good things you enjoy most being a nurse or what it attracts you why you want to become one.....dont allow negative forces to ruin your dreams......

I tend to have re-occuring dreams that I'm back in nursing school working on the Med-Surg floor. I tend to feel the same anxieties in my dream as I did in real life. I dream that I'm always running way behind with patient care on the Med-Surg floor...late with vitals and assessments, late with giving out meds...it's pretty funny, but I'm always glad that it's only a dream.

I work in a dialysis center. The machines have red, yellow, and green lights to help staff better monitor treatments. The green light means all is well with the treatment. The red light means there is something that needs immediate attention and has an audible alarm. One morning I dreamt that a machine was alarming, but the light was green. I called several people to help me. In the confusion, I turned over, woke up and realized that my alarm clock (with green numbers) was alarming for me to GET UP:rotfl:

I dream a lot about work. One of the funiest was when I was talking in my sleep. My husband came inot our room to wake me up . I said to him, "you better flush that babies line w salin, then heplock in and clamp it! you Cant just leave it open like that"! The night before a baby had become disconected from his TPN and his parents just left his line open w/o clamping it and not pressing the call light right away. (*after days and days of teaching, during which the father would always say "i know" and act like he already knew everything) hte baby could have just bled out. Anyway I was really upset at my husband for laughing (*hello. noo baby in the room!) becuase I really thought that baby was in our room!

Just last night I dreamed that I was in my A&P II lecture and my instructor announced we were having our final a week early. That was pretty scary.
