online BSN degree-what do you think??

Nurses Career Support

Published

I am a diploma RN and am interested in obtaining a BSN. I started looking online and found some interesting programs. I was wondering if anyone else has used this method. Working full time and with a family, online would be great. The one particular program Deaconess College of Nursing mentions awarding the diploma nurse credits toward the BSN. Another program through Rochville University awards degrees based on life experiences including job history, educational acheivements, earned CEU's, etc. Please let me know of any program I might be interested in and how long could I expect it to take.

Becareful about accredidation. That the program is recognized by the dept. of Education. Many progams that recognize " life experience" are not legit. I think your work in AA program should be counted, and your CU"S but bottom line it's about money, and they college you attend wants money for their degree. I wish you all the best...

I did the University of Phoenix online BSN completion - I was an ADN grad. It was a good program and accredited.

I have heard good things about University of Phoenix. I would think especially good for an AdN to BSN. What scares me the most is the tuition of some of the on-line schools. In most cases you pay for the privilage of keeping your own hours.

Best of luck to all of us...and thanks for you comments.

No problem Ricky! You are right that UofP is very expensive. However, I feel my money is well-spent if it will get me a better job.
