Nursing Book Nightmare

What you need to remember is you will use most of those books all through nursing school and will only have to get a couple more. At least that's how most programs work.

We only used two of the books. Most of my books are still in the package, un opened. I've been told by several students that you don't need to buy the book box. We also didn't use the skills pack at all. I think it's for second semester.

Hi mom35,

I broke down and bought the book box when I went to pick up my scrubs yesterday. After the $80 Majors coupon and the $10 gift card for picking up the scrubs, the box was only $791 after tax. I think most of the stuff will be very useful over the whole program, plus we get all the online access and stuff.

After work last night I drove up to Winstar and won $800 in blackjack for the book box :smokin:

Amazon is great way to save money. Last semester I got $400 worth of books for the low low cost of 30$ using amazon. The $400 represents the cost of "used" books at the local bookstore.

This is the way to go. Anytime you can buy good condition used books, you will save money and won't feel so cheated by the process. Sometimes you can find a student who left the program who wants to sell their books, but they usually want more return on their investment than you could get the books on a used book site for.
