Nursing admission with low gpa

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello everyone. Okay I'm going to need everyone's help here because Im so confused and I dont really know what to do. So I slacked when i first started college and now I have 2.7 undergrad gpa. I badly wanted to go to a nursing school and with my gpa that low I know it'll be hard for me to get in. So im thinking maybe I can apply to nursing schools I want to get in to with health science major and finish all the pre-reqs and then apply for their nursing program? I dont know if thats a good idea but Im really desperate.

The schools Im hoping to get in to are Molloy College and Adelphi University. If I ought to apply directly for nursing, how hard is it to get in? What do I need to do in order for me to finally attend nursing school? Pls help everyone. Thank you so much in advance! :)

Call the programs or at least review their admission requirements (you can usually find them online). 2.7 does sound very low, but some programs admit on a first come, first served basis and some consider your sciences GPA as opposed to your all-inclusive GPA. Completing all (of most) of the programs' prerequisites may also help you.

Contact the schools. Be honest and tell them you have a bad GPA. Do not say "I badly wanted to go to nursing school" because then they will wonder if you wanted it so bad why is your GPA awful. Also don't give excuses like you were depressed because your cat died. Just be straight up and if you get in DO NOT get a 2.7 in the future. You cannot "slack off" in nursing school. You will fail and you will owe thousands of dollars.
