Nurses earning over $100K in Ontario

Published

I was looking through these documents for another reason, and came upon the list of employees of hospitals and boards of public health who make over $100K. Just for fun, I did a search for "registered nurse." There aren't many, when you think of how many RNs work in Ontario. But I was still surprised to see as many as I did, considering the hourly rate. I also don't know exactly what their roles are, just that they're listed as registered nurses.

The Rn I am working with as my emerg preceptor is on that list. She worksin Emerg, has been a nurse for 18 years and works loads of hours. Pretty cool to know you can make that much if you work your butt off.

Do you know how many hours she works? I mean, that's a lot of money, at least in Maritime dollars. :chuckle

There are nurses in my facility on that list too. They work lots of overtime and lots of weekends in a row (double time I think). It is possible to make this kind of money if you don't mind not having much of a life!

Mmm, been there done that in another life. They used to limit us to 6x10hrs a week. Good thing too. Working that many hours for an extended period is not good for the happy factor. :uhoh21:

In the GTA it's fairly easy to work at more than one hospital so you can get all the hours you want. I will tell you, I came nowhere near 100K last year:)

how about half of 100K?

I guess that's what health care executives earn -- and you know what? What they do amounts to wading through eliphant dung 24/7. Yuck. They can have the 100K.
