We need Congress to pass the nurse staffing bill that was recently reintroduced in the House May 12, 2021. WE DON'T NEED IMPROVEMENT!! WE NEED ENFORCED LAWS NOW for patient and nurse safety! NURSES NEED TO RISE UP AND TELL CONGRESS WE'RE SICK OF BEING UNDERSTAFFED FOR PROFIT!  I've been researching this for years and all I find is more evidence to support the staffing laws and a bunch of govt and hospital political tactics to STALL AND STALL AND STALL. I also don't have the patience for mamby pamby talk from nurse martyrs, management climbers, or admin who spoon feed "Tips to accepting moral, mental, and physical injury.... with a smile." and "10 ideas for morale improvement..serve pizza for overtime!", as time marches on and takes a toll on nurses' mental and physical health/patient safety for their profit... and nothing. gets. done.  ALL NURSES SHOULD BE ANGRY AS &^%# AND PEACEFULLY PUSHING FOR OUR RIGHTS NOW! Make calls, sign petitions, join online groups like Last Pizza Party on FB, march if you can. I've repeatedly signed petitions, made websites and have started making phone calls to Reps and Senators. If all the nurses did this, the politicians will listen. We are too complacent! We have to come together and get this done. Do you really want to wait another 2 years working understaffed?

Is there any nursing organization with a website set up so that the can click to send letters to our appropriate congresspersons?  That would be the only way to get the numbers of people you want to sign on.

EXAMPLE COMPARISON TO BILLS : The For the People Act (H.R. 1) has 222 cosponsors (U.S. congresspersons) since intro on 1/2021. It's getting alot of attention and backing for voter protection rights. YaY!
The Public Health Service amendment bill (our Nurse Staffing bill) currently has 28 cosponsors as of today and it is in committee (one congressperson was added today). We need to show our support in numbers to get more cosponsors.

We need to show how important our Bill is to us by telling them! We are 3.8 million strong!

The Title says HR3168, sorry, it's HR3165. 
The related bill for the Senate side is S1567. They only have 5 cosponsors. We need more senators on our side pushing especially in light of vaccines and Delta and whatever is next, hopefully some semblance of new normalcy.

I TOTALLY AGREE!! 

Speaking as a LTC RN, I truly realize and appreciate the Staffing/Ratio concerns expressed by Acute/Critical Care, ER/Trauma and other Specialty Care Nurses for optimal Patient Care Outcomes.

     In the LTC-Sub Acute (Rehab) Setting, it's 2 Nurses and 3,MAYBE 4 CNA's to 40 Residents on a generous day or evening shift.  On the overnight it is 1 Nurse and 1MAYBE 2 CNA's to those same 40 Residents on the overnight.  Now granted we don't have the same levels of medical acuity/urgency as you do, but we do have a heavy med pass/treatment rounds,meals to distribute,total ADLs- incl.showers, and Residents requiring direct supervision d/t incr. Fall Risks, Dementia related Behaviors and wanderers. ....Not to gripe,but we LTC Nurses and especially the CNAs are AMONGST the hardest working Direct Care Providers and yet comparatively UNDERRATED,UNDER PAID.

You have the same acuity. You have patients that are basically step down in many cases. I have a family member who tells me they have to do Gtube, etc. anything that hospital can discharge for gets forwarded to you. You gripe and you gripe strong! Nurses on all levels are suffering in all places we work. It's not gonna get better unless we stand together. I hope you and other nurses see that we and doctors have the power to do this. The fear of losing our jobs when we are trying to take care of the expenses of lives is too much. We need to contact our congresspersons and PUUUSH. CNAs OMG we need our CNAs!! It's the system. We need to scream to our congresspersons. Last Pizza Party on facebook. We are in this together! The RNs the LVNs the CNAs the APRNs. It's horrific what we are all going through because the institutions are profiting. Get on Twitter, on FB, on whatever. Just scream!
