NCLEX deficiency

World Registration

I'm a recent Nursing graduate from the Philippines and passed the Nursing Boards there. Three of my classmates there were able to take the NCLEX here in California. However, the California Board of Nursing denied me that opportunity for the reason that I have "deficiencies" in Med Surg which I vehemently deny due to the fact that I took it on time, with high grades. I was advised by the Board to retake it here. May I ask for your advice on what to do next? Are there any accredited Nursing schools here in California which will allow me to retake that subject , with both time and financial constraint taken in consideration? I'm

at my wits end and would appreciate your kind advice on what to do next? Thank you so much in advance.

Regardless if you need to fight your case, the BRN has their own standards in evaluating foreign grad transcripts. So you need to take that. Lucky for you, you only need Med-Surg. I was required to take Med-Surg and OB. Others are required 3 courses. Some are required to take the whole program again. If you need a school to take a course like Med-Surg, you can inquire at Dominican University of California. It's in the bay area. The inquiry e-mail is [email protected]. They have priority listing, however just inquire them. Here's their website:

Other schools are Unitek College-Fremont, Modesto Junior College, CSU-Chico.
