Do nurse recruiters get commisson everytime they hire a nurse?

I had a nurse recruiter who was nice during the whole interview process then when

I turned down the position her attitude totally changed. She was very rude to me.

Specializes in Hospice.

Well essentially you wasted their time. I think they should be polite but i think it can be frustrating if someone took up your time to be interviewed and check references ect........and then they don't want the job. (maybe with good reason)

Specializes in Med/Surg, Ortho, ASC.

I don't think OP wasted anyone's time. An interview is for both parties to evaluate each other and the position offered. Declining a job offer should not be considered offensive or even out of the ordinary.

I think your nurse recruiter was just being childish. She thought she had a job filled and she didn't. Maybe she will have to work a little harder tomorrow than she thought she would. But burning bridges can go both ways (at least in a decent economy:uhoh3:) and you will likely remember your recruiter and will not want to deal with her (and possibly her facility) again.

If it was for a hospital they are salaried if it was an agency they are (mostly) commissioned. Maybe she thought you guys were friends & got her feelers hurt when you turned her down?

Yeah. See? Everybody can be nice and seem professional until they don't get what they want. Do what you want FIRST when it comes to job hunting. Remember you are totally the one who gets to decide if you want the job after they offer it. Totally your ballgame at that point, at least.
