The Pennsylvania State Legislature just passed a nurse licensure compact bill. The governor will sign it soon. Thank you to Senator Boscola for her strong support of legislation that makes it easier to get good healthcare in Pennsylvania. To all Pennsylvania nurses: Welcome to the compact ?? ?

That is great news. Do you know when they plan to actually implement it? Thank you.
No. The bill was signed by the governor of Pennsylvania on July 1. As soon as they announce an implementation date, I'll post it.

Woohoo! I was from PA and had initially received a nursing licensed from there and I always wanted to go compact. When I moved, I was able to endorse and receive compact license. This is wonderful news for all Pennsylvanians!

I am licensed in my home state of PA as an LPN. 4 years ago, I left a job of 27 years to move to SC to care for my Mother, now deceased. No regrets.. Precious time. I became a resident of SC and did not transfer my licensure from PA which I have kept active there. With Mom gone, I am seeking to return to my career that I Love. Will I be able to apply for compact licensure in PA, my original State of license though my current residence is in SC?? *Note: I would sooner, if necessary, move to PA and change residence than go through the exhausting process of transferring to SC with the 2 year endorsement period now expired. Pretty sure they wanted my first born child too ??? Any advise?

No. Compact licensure requires the compact license to be issued by the state of legal residence.

I live in MD and have a PA license. PA license is only good in PA. With SC you have have a SC licensed which is compact and can work in any compact state. The PA governor just signed an order to make PA part of compact licensure. The effective date is still to be determined.
