Nurse from Europe (Netherlands) needs advice

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi everyone,

I took the NCLEX-RN for the second time last Wednesday. Just found out I failed.

What a bummer! Had 265 questions both times. The first time I was very nervous, had several breakdowns during the exam and knew I failed. Last week was different; I was relaxed, no breakdowns, just answered the questions.

To me it felt I had a change at passing. Unfortunately I didn't.

I went to nursing school in the Netherlands, passed 12 years ago and worked at a PACU-unit ever since.

Two years ago my husband and I decided we wanted to go for a new life in the US. So a nursing license is very welcome!:nurse:

Are there Dutch/ European nurses on this forum who can advise me how to study for NCLEX?

I'm understanding that this isn't just an exam. Even US (student) nurses struggle passing. I've read their stories here and it helps me to keep going. Kudos for all of you who didn't give up on their dream and for all the ones still struggling.:yeah::up:

So, I'm hoping for some support/ advice regarding this tough exam.

Thanks to you all:redbeathe

Hi Frederique

I am so happy to run into another Nurse from The Netherlands! My name is Ramona and moved to the US 3 years. I did a four year Nursing program in Amsterdam (MBO) and now work as an LPN for an Assistant living. I feel a little stuck at the moment because I don't know what to do to get my RN licence. In a Dutch article I read that a graduate from a MBO program would not qualify for the CGFNS. HBO program graduates do. And I understood that as an Foreign Nurse you have to be approved by this program first in order to sit for the NCLEX. Do you know anything about this? How did you get your RN licence? I would really much appreciate any information you can give me. Thanks in advance!

Hi Ramona and Frederique, I notice it have been a few years since your respective posts, but I just happened to join this site today July 10th, 2014. I don't even know how to use it that well, but i will give it a try :)... I am Dutch, but live in the US since 1997, I am now pursuing my career in Nursing here in Amerika, but I have intentions of going back to my beloved Nederlands sometime in the near future. I am very happy that you (Frederique) have passed the NCLEX exam, and I hope that you (Ramona) have found your path... If not yet, I might have some advice for you. Just let me know, and I will be more than happy to help you! ...Please, I would like to know if any of you have an idea of how can I transfer my licence to Nederland, once I graduate and pass the NCLEX ? Would they accept my schooling and licence from here, or do I have to do another NCLEX sort of exam over there ? Any advice you could give me will be much appreciated !!! ...
