Hello, I am in the Air Force. I recently applied to the 2010 Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Progam (NECP). I am waiting for the board results. Anyone else out there as anxious as me?
Hi! Yes I am a Cali resident but that was even a hassle! They classified me as "Military" and would not even recognize me as a resident even though I still have a vaid CA driver's license. It is pretty tough to get into schools there; the SFSU Sequoia program (the accelerated one that I had to apply to) only admitted 40 students and waitlisted 25.
zx7chelle and I, as well as another person I know, got into University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio. That was a miracle in itself because they only take 110 students and get around 700 applicants! I was hoping that was the hard part but now that i'm waiting for the board to pick I am pacing and over worrying as I always do. I am relieved to hear i'm not the only non medical applicant; I currently work on computers/admin. I wonder what the board is doing right now...
I asked Mr. B exactly that question and here is his response: "Official release date middle of Jun 10. Sorry I don't have an official date. Assignment will be loaded in late Jun 10 depending on when I get the required paperwork returned to me."
I guess as soon as we/you/whoever gets notified make sure to accomplish what they need.
zx7chelle said:Hey Brooke, thkx. You are more than welcome here...if you have any questions about the process, please ask. I am sure people will be more than happy to give you information. I wish there were a thread liek this when I was selecting schools, putting package together, etc.
Thanks zx7chelle for the warm welcome! I wish I could say I was awaiting results with you all, but nope not untill a little later down the road. Also thank you for the offering of advice, I am sure I will need all I can get very soon. I have found two schools I plan on applying for and both are in Nebraska. My choices were based on being able to get my husband stationed with me, he is a electronic warfares maintainer and I am a comm/nav maintainer. For his job bases are limited so I had to do some serious researching to pick a school with a base close enough by (Offuit) that we would stay together (AF permitting of course). Oh quick question, I am on maternity leave and don't have CAC access at the moment. Everywhere that I go trying to find the detailed requirements to apply for NECP won't let me in because you have to have your CAC in. I was only planning on applying to AECP at first but I realize now my chances will be better if I apply for both programs and by that time anyways I will have enough credits for the NECP program. Do any of you have a quick link to something I can access on NECP from home? I know the basics....E-4 and above, I think it said 59ish credits, stuff like that....any help would be much appreciated! TIA

Thank you Kynchanted! I have seen all those requirements but are there anymore that I should know about? The NECP link from AFROTC website won't let me in, and I saw where some NECP applicants on here were talking about having to have an interview with a Chief Nurse at their base hospital?????? Details like that I mean, if you guys would rather me wait until I have access that is fine just let me know and I'll quit being so bothersome!
Hi! Yes there are a few more things that are required for the package but I have it all at work (thought I sent it home as well but didn't...sorry!). Part of the package is your last 5 EPRs, Chief Nurse Interview sheet, letter of recommendation from immediate supervisor with squadron commader endorsement, "why I want to be a nurse corps officer" essay (250 words or less), 422 saying you are worldwide qualified with this special commissioning statement about no history of emotional instability, etc., degree plan from the school you are attending (AF IMT 48...the school fills it out for you after you are admitted), letter of acceptance from the school and the nursing school, fitness test within 90 days of board date, DVB from VMPF, awards and decorations SURF, curtailment approval if applicable. That is all the stuff that you need for the package; as for the classes those are the ones the military says you need. If your school has more, then you have to meet those as well. Some schools have less (your degree plan has to show that you don't need them if that is the case). Hope this helps some! :)

For the folks that applied to San Fran State...are you CA residents? I was told they dont accept out of state applicants.
