Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Program USAF

Published

Hello, I am in the Air Force. I recently applied to the 2010 Nurse Enlisted Commissioning Progam (NECP). I am waiting for the board results. Anyone else out there as anxious as me?

Hi zx7...I think you are right about the GPA; I recall that Mr. B told me that he didn't need any of my other transcripts awhile back (I still had classes in progress but they weren't any of the required ones for NECP), so I assume that that was because I had already sent transcripts for all of the required classes that the board wanted to see anyway. I took 3 more classes since I did my intent to apply and he didn't want any of those transcripts....

kynchanted,

So glad you found me too. My situtation is a bit different though. I went ahead and (gulp!) applied for the USF Summer start session. I am already accepted and will be starting this coming Monday. It is a bit risky hoping that I get picked up for the NECP program, but I figured I might as well go for it all the way. So the good thing for you is that I have tons if info for you concerning the USF nursing program (admittance, GPA's, etc...).

Where that leaves me is anxiously waiting for the NECP board results to be released. If I dont get picked up, I dont know what I will do. I will already have started the program and will have to drop out :(. But Im not thinking about that now, only positive thoughts.

Let me know of ANY questions you have about the USF program and I will let you know everything that I do.

zx7chelle, Thanks for the welcome

2012rn2b, Im glad Im not the only one starting before the board results come out. I am taking a full load (5 classes including labs and clinicals).

Thanks for the welcome and I will be checking back daily for any sign of board release information.

Hi DMO27...congrats on your acceptance! :) I applied for summer as well (USF told me to apply for one semester earlier than I wanted to start so I did but I figured that if they made me try one semester earlier they must let me defer one semester if I got in...they don't do deferments so I let my app lapse and didn't finish it). I re-applied for fall so that's where I am now. If you don'tmind me asking, what was your GPA (I know they go strictly off of GPA)? I have a 3.7 with 74 credits transferring in. They are really nice to me and have gone through great lengths for me with all of the provisional letters they have typed up and my form 48 that they filled out for me; I tell myself it is because they want me but that is a little wishful thinking on my part as well, ;) Any advice or stats that you would be willing to share would be super appreciated! Since we are not really in the same boat, good luck on your acceptance to NECP and hopefully we will both end up at USF via the program! :)

To everyone waiting on their NECP package...

I wish all of you the very best of luck. I applied to AECP this year, and know how the wait is...it was absolutely miserable. I was driving myself insane constantly checking the website for updates..:-)

Everything I have seen regarding NECP seems to indicate they select the majority of the qualified applicants...so as long as your grades/recommendations were good, I don't think any of you will have a problem. I also do not believe the "draw-down" will hurt NECP too much. We are too short in the nursing field.

kynchanted,

Yes, USF goes strictly off of GPA. Here is what I know from my experience... they only accept the top 48 applicants (VERY competitive). From there they have a 'stand-by' list of the next 10 applicants in the GPA stack. For the summer semester the 'initial' cutt-off was a 3.67 GPA. My GPA was a 3.66 so I was placed on the stand-by list. About a week after the results came out I was informed that one of the selected declined their seat and I was accepted (phewww). Everyone in the program is very nice. Even when they informed me that I wasnt initially accepted (I called them), they were very nice about it. So with your 3.7 GPA you shouldnt have a problem... of course it always depends on the applicant pool. It would be awesome if you made it in and we could progress together. Oh yeah, there is another guy in the program who is doing the same thing as me. He is starting this summer waiting on the results of the NECP board to come out hoping that he makes it too.

Let me know if you have any more questions, I would be happy to answer them.

Hi, newnurse2013... did you get picked up by AECP?

I did....!! So I am riding pretty high right now. It has been a long and tiring road...many late nights at class and days of stress getting the package together. It is all worth it when you see your name on that list...:-)

I originally started out working on NECP, but another person in my unit came by my office for a signature on his fitness form for AECP. Long story short, we talked and I switched to AECP.

Hi everybody and good luck on the boards, I have been accepted to University of Maryland SON, I am a TSgt stationed at DM and been in for 15 years now (oldie as well). I am excited for everyone and hope that they will need the full 50 slots instead of cutting them down which will mean most of us that got our applications in on time will get in. Was definately rough getting in all the requirements so I commend all of you for getting it accomplished, best wishes this fall in nursing school.

The board ended this afternoon so hopefully they don't keep us in misery for too long. Good luck to everyone.
