I just submitted my application to the Nurse Corps Scholarship, I just found out about this a few months ago anyone have any advice or tips? I am most worried by my SAI number. It is within the range but its on the upper end more than lower.

Check your emails; I just got a notification that I was not selected. It might be a blessing in disguise I'm going to just keep working hard for smaller scholarships.

good luck everyone!

I just got mine too, good luck everyone on their journey. We got this not matter what!

They are sending out denial emails, I just got mine. Crazy how you can be a finalist, do everything on time and still get denied. But I'm a strong believer in Christ, prayed about it and asked if this opportunity is not for me to close the door and I got my answer. Whatever you believe in, whatever decision you get, just know that it is for the best!

Congratulations to everyone who received the award and those who will receive it. I wish you all the best of luck in your nursing journeys 🙂

Yea, it's really unfortunate but it might be a blessing for us that it's like this. While there are a lot of good things about this scholarship, past participants also have some really bad experiences.

So let's just hope this was for a reason, and continue researching other scholarships.

we WILL become nurses/APRNs. Delayed but not denied.

If there's anyone in the same boat that is paying for school with student loans or maybe a mix of out of pocket and loans, remember that there is soooo much opportunity in nursing. Taking out loans sucks and I wish I didn't have to have that debt but I know that whatever job I take on will let me pay it off in no time. The debt to income ratio has a positive outlook for many positions you may want to pursue in nursing. Of course you can also look for micro scholarships to help the burden. I'm grateful to be in an awesome profession!

When one door closes, another one opens! Congratulations to those accepted! For those of us challenged with finding the means to make this dream a reality, stay positive and pray! Where there is a will, there is a way!

This! I was reading on the FB group about the taxes that comes with it years later because it's offered as a W2 and many people having to pay back the IRS. I go to a VERY expensive program in Boston, MA that is a three year program to be a Psych NP. And the thought of paying taxes on that scared me. I was also rejected but I want to believe it's because the tuition cost is a lot to cover, so me being accepted would've possibly taken five other people spots if we're talking budget. But like you said a blessing in disguise because I was recently awarded a stipend opportunity through HRSA in my school's program. I'm not upset at all but more relieved as this process caused more anxiety than anything. And honestly, I don't think I would apply again. All in all, congratulations to everyone that got it - keep us updated - I love reading all your stories. And to those that see this as a loss, there will be more opportunities - many people get it in their second attempt - and in God's timing you will be a nurse. Everyone in school now, keep going!

I believe that these opportunities depend on various factors, and not receiving a scholarship doesn't determine your worth or the kind of nurse you will become. There's often an element of luck involved, such as whether your essay resonated with the person or committee reviewing it. For example, I come from an underserved community, but I didn't emphasize that in my essay. My Student Aid Index (SAI) was around 5000, and my school costs over $30,000 per semester. I was fortunate to be awarded the scholarship this year, but it only covers two semesters. Interestingly, I know someone in their first semester at the same school who also received the award.

They only offered to cover 2 semesters for you? Or that's all the schooling you have left? Yet they covered someone else fully? Just trying to understand

I haven't heard of anyone with a SAI of 0 which is what I have, but they said they prioritize being who come from underserved backgrounds. Well usually someone with an SAI of 0 is coming from an underserved background. It doesn't make much sense to me

I apologize for any confusion. I am currently in my last semester, so the scholarship will cover this fall and the past Summer term. However, I know another student in their first semester at my school who also received the award, and they will be covered for the entirety of their program.

From what I've gathered in all the documentations they are solely looking for federal delinquencies (child support, missed student loan payments) I do not believe a bankruptcy would disqualify you. Life happens. & I'd hate to believe that because of someone's past financial hardship they wouldn't grant a scholarship.. fingers crossed! 🤞🏽

Or federally taxes not paid

How did it go? I am looking to apply in March but I'm scared of the same thing.

Hello. I got accepted into the nursing program for LPN at Herzing University. I am wanting to apply for the nurse corp scholarship program now. Do they accept lpn students. I know on the website it says diplom/

a in nursing is eligible. Is that the same as LPn program or something totally different
