Nurse Corps Scholarship 2018-2019

Published

Hi Everyone, I'm planning to apply for the HRSA NurseCorp Scholarship this year. I figured I would go ahead and start the next thread for this award year. I'm currently finishing up some of my prereqs and will be starting my BSN program in June. I know the application date hasn't been released yet but from what I have seen on other threads, it should be opened sometime in March/April with a deadline in May. I've also read that the prompt questions have been the same from one award year to the next so I have begun working on them as well as trying to figure out who I would like to use as recommendations. I would love to hear from all who plan to apply this year.

Hi Everyone! I received my finalist email on Monday, 8/20 and submitted all my paperwork and signed contract that same day. I didn't have a credit check until 8/22 (although I also applied last year and received a credit check, but was not awarded). Has anyone set up a facebook group yet for the finalist so we can help each other with common questions that may come up? I know they did something like that last year and it sounded like a good idea.

Did you get a finalist email and then they did a credit check ? I'm confused. I haven't received a credit check but I'm in final review . I am also a finalist. You said last year were you a finalist and got a credit check and didn't get awarded after you submitted your paperwork and stuff or how did that work? Please explain.

When did you submit your application? mine still says under review :(

I received a credit check only last year, but I wasn't awarded. This year, I received the finalist email on Monday 8/20, and then had a credit check on 8/22. I'm not sure why the credit check was after the finalist email. I didn't have any paperwork to submit last year, because even though I received a credit check, I did not receive a finalist email.

I'm still under review, no credit check, for BSN program :/ I submitted my app really early too...

I got the email first then the credit check the next day. It was only under the Equifax one.

HRSA reserves up to 50 percent of NURSE Corps Scholarship Program funds for the education of NPs; with up to 20 percent of total program funding targeting NPs specializing in Psychiatric-Mental Health. So Nps be patient. Next wave will be for us. Lol

Oooohhhh!! Music to my ears! Praying and waiting! Tried to find out how many applied to This round of scholarships, but could not get answer. Was told in previous years the average number of applicants was about 2,000 and 8-10% receive scholarship...but also read somewhere that the percentage of funding for Psych NPs would be increased this time. Of course I can't find that info now, but seems to ring true with what you've shared!!

I think we should set up a facebook group too. I officially signed my contract this morning.

Does anyone know what all they look at for credit?

I don't have the best credit score but I haven't defaulted on any loans or anything . Do they look at payment history or how does that work .

They only look for federal loans if you've defaulted on them. That's it, not credit score

Okay awesome ! Thank you!
