Nurse Corps Scholarship 2017-2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.

Thanks

Hi I'm in the same situation. I received the email for the awardee conference call but I haven't received a participant email. Did you call the help line and ask? I plan on calling today.

I called - they can't give you any new information about your application. If someone from the govt signed your contract (check in the application portal), it sounds like that's a pretty good indicator that you will get the scholarship. However, nothing is certain until Sept. 30th. Good luck!!!

Does anyone know after receiving the participant email and portal access how do we send the invoice to our school to pay the tuition? Or does HRSA do it on its own? The website says to access the invoice but I couldn't find it anywhere. I called today but the wait was too long and I thought I would call back tmmw. I would really appreciate your help.

Hi @zeenurse100! I contacted my school's fiscal services department, and they told me to send them my award letter, and that they would bill HRSA using that. Not sure how the nitty gritty works, but I just did as I was told haha

Hi there,

I have been reading through the NurseCorps Guidance PDF in an effort to prepare myself for applying in 2018. In the Guidance document it states, "In the past, NURSE Corps Scholarship Program funds have been sufficient to only reach applicants in the first Tier," (See below for a breakdown of each tier as outlined in the document). I meet all eligibility requirements, but am a part-time FNP student, which places me in tier 3. Given this, I am wondering if it is recommended that part-time students still take the time to apply? Based on what Im reading, it seems highly unlikely that a part-time student would be awarded funds. Thank you in advance for any insight!

"Among qualified applicants with the greatest financial need, awards will be made based on the following Tiers:

1. Applicants enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited diploma, undergraduate nursing program or accredited NURSE Corps Scholarship Program graduate level nurse practitioner program as defined on page 6, registered as full-time students for every consecutive term.

2. Applicants enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited graduate nursing program for Doctor of Nursing Practice programs, programs for certified nurse midwives, certified registered nurse anesthetists, or clinical nurse specialists as full-time students for consecutive terms.

3. Applicants enrolled or accepted for enrollment in an accredited diploma, undergraduate or graduate nursing program as part-time students, as determined by school's registrar."

Hi, I will be graduating this upcoming April. I am interested in knowing how thus program works? Does the government pay a lump sum or payments? Do I have to pay the interest or is that covered by the program ? Does the hospital or clinic take money out of your pay check or is it separate from the program? Etc.... any information would be greatly helpful.

I have read through the online information but it would he great to hear first hand.

Thank you!
