Nurse Corps Scholarship 2017-2018

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I am interested in applying to the nurse corps scholarship 2017 2018 in order to pay for my accelerated program of sixteen months. I have a bachelors in sociology. I have done quiet a few researches. The application cycle will be open this month but I don't know which exact date. I have read discussion threads of previous years and have found really helpful information. I want to create a platform where interested applicants can ask questions, share information, discuss and help each other.

Thanks

I just called and they said they've already begun awarding scholarships. I think he was mistaken because he said credit checks are done as they review each application and that if I hadn't received one yet, its because they haven't reviewed mine. That also makes me question how they can give out awards without reviewing all the applications. I think someone else should call and see if they get a different response,

i also just called and i was told they had started awarding the scholarships, and to keep checking my email. can someone else also call tos ee what they would say to them

Is anyone else getting anxious every time they get an email from HRSA? I've gotten around 4 over the last few days about a virtual fair.

Ok so I just called and spoke to a guy named Joel. He was unsure of the answers he was giving me. He stated that the credit checks, awards and review of applications are happing all at the same time. I was like how is that possible? I told him I though this whole process happened in phases: review of applications, credit checks, and then awards? I asked him was this a new process to do everything all at once and of course he was unsure. I asked him when was the deadline to have all application score cards submitted and he stated I should be notified by Sept 30. That's not what I asked u! He could not answer because he did not know. He did check the status of my application and said it's being reviewed. If it's being reviewed the how can they dispense award letters? This is a prime example of how unreliable their customer service phone representatives are. And of course this is so frustrating!!!!!!!

I wonder how much the reps are told with all the conflicting info. I've also been following the student doctor network thread about the NHSC scholarship and no one has posted anything about receiving an award yet.

I posted about this last week. You are better off reading the threads from previous years. The BHW reps all give conflicting info. You will go bananas trying to make sense of it. If you read past years threads you'll see the time lines for everything are all consistent.

Please try not call them I drove my self crazy by doing that because you can call 3x and get 3 different answers. They will literally tell you anything just to get you off the phone. Prime example of this:

I asked them that on the website it says that on the previous years they were able to fund all Tier 1 applicants so I asked does that mean as long as I qualify I will get the schlorship. This question was answered 3 different ways. I have made up my mind not to drive myself crazy by calling.

They also tell u u have 10% chance of getting the schlorship but based on the website regarding tier 1 is not accurate but every rep refused to admit or give an answer that makes sense. If everyone is funded on Tier 1 how is that 10% chance for tier 1 applicants?

Does anyone know if financial need is

solely calculated by EFC? For example, assuming all things are equal between two candidates but one is going to a private school that cost 50k a year and the other is going to a school that costs 10k will they assume greater financial need to the candidate of the private school?

I agree with FutureNurseEmilyP198. I am going to go by the dates from previous threads and keep checking Credit Karma.

Good question. I am not sure...

It's just EFC

Do we know if all students with 0 EFC are awarded if they are working on MSN degrees to practice as an NP?
