After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!
Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)
1 year AmeriCorps
1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents
5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)
I noticed my contract was signed by Jamie Ofam approver on Aug.19th. Has anyone else noticed this that is a finalist? have any of the finalist received the participation email yet? Anxiously awaiting for mine!!!
My contract is not signed yet and my status still says I'm in final review! It's making me crazy, I hope it updates tomorrow!
Not judging just curious as to why people are so nervous about the contracts not being signed yet? I thought things rarely changed after the initial email am I wrong?
I was also part of the first wave and my contract has not been signed this is so nerve wrecking!!
I just think it's a matter of time. If all the docs were submitted within their deadline I don't think there should be any issues. I've read from past years that once you're offered the award and accept it.. it's pretty much a done deal. They just want to verify that nothing has changed from the initial application. I wouldn't worry too much. Hope this helps!
I personally think that my worries comes from the disclamimer on the website. Since we dont know exactly what they are looking for or what exactly it is they are verifying . I think ill finally be at ease when i receive that participant email!!
