Nurse Corps Scholarship 2016-2017

Greetings!

After binge reading the thread for 2015-2016, I decided it's time to start one for this year. I am a single mother opting to pursue a BSN after a post-quarter life crisis. Because I have multiple degrees, I have just about exhausted all of my financial aid options. I would like to hear from anyone applying for the scholarship. What's your story? What are your stats? Previous applicants and recipients I would like to hear your story too!

Starting at a private nursing school in May (with what little fin. aid I have left)

1 year AmeriCorps

1 year internship at group home for at-risk adolescents

5 years working with Dept. of Corrections (2.5 of which were counseling offenders)

EFC: 544

GPA: 3.9

Community service hours: 45

Location: GA

I was reading through last year's thread about the credit checks...seems like it shows up on the EQUIFAX report. I just ordered all 3 & CREDCO made an inquiry on 7/14/16. Hoping this is a good sign!!

Ok...brace yourselves:yes:. I hope this was my news, lol, but it isn't. On the other forum, 2016-2017 HRSA Nursing Scholarship, a student posted today that she just received her award email. She is a direct entry NP student who already has her BSN. So looks like the NP students are now getting their awards. Good luck everyone.

I received my scholarship approval. I will be able to get my RN degree. (3.89 and 0000 EFC). Congrats to everyone who received an award.

Tamriab, don't get discouraged. My gpa is a also 3.2. My EFC is 0. My credit was checked on 7/15, and I got an award email on 7/26.

I found this on one of the forms on the hrsa website "EFC between $0 and $5,158 will be consideredas having the greatest financial need" [https://nhsc.hrsa.gov/scholarships/scholarshipsfornurses.pdf]. I think as long as the EFC is within that range then it fits the "greatest financial need category". I don't think they will rank "greatest need" within the "greatest financial need category".

I received my award email at 5:00 PM CST. I never had a credit check show up.

Stats:

In my 2nd and last year of nursing school. Going for my BSN.

EFC: 0

Nursing GPA: 4.0

Lots of volunteer experience. Work as a CNA.

OKAY essays according to a friend.
