What exactly is the entire process with this, if you make it past the “under review” stage? And do we think most of the awards have been disbursed by now, or is there still some left to go? I got a credit check but that’s as far as I got….still under review.

Good question. I’m wondering the same. From what I’ve read in previous years’ threads, if we don’t hear by next month (September), we’ve probably not been chosen to receive an award. I’m the same as you: credit check back in May, still under review. I’m tier 2 though, so I’m not terribly hopeful.

Well I'm not really sure, but I've read these messages from past years. It sounds like some people were still receiving notifications of awards in September so I wouldn't give up until the end of September. I don't think anyone received awards in past years that had lower than 100% DTI, but I am seeing some for this year. I know the COVID bill passed in March had additional funding for nurse corps so I'm assuming that's why.

I believe the lower DTI this year is due to being preferential to L&D/obgyn/midwives?

Otherwise I am in Tier 1. DTI 175%, HPSA 18. Still under review though

That’s what I’ve seen. Women’s health certified RNs/APRNs seem to be the ones getting awarded  with lower DTIs. They had money specifically set aside for them. Half considering going back and taking my OB certification exam since I was an OB RN before I became an NP and I still work in women’s health doing maternity/family planning…??‍♀️

Hello everyone, I received a credit check back in May. I’m a RN. I work I OB I know that there were special allocations for Certified OB nurses I am not certified. What certifications did you guys have? Also on the application it asked you want type of nurse you are but did not specify OB. What did you guys choose. Feeling quite discouraged and I am so fed of these loans!

Hey all, Non-APRN nurse here with DTI 195% HPSA 18. I received the finalist email this morning. Debating between accepting and keeping current nursing position + HRSA or moving back to CA with the parents for a while and working in the bay area, thoughts? Goodluck to everyone waiting!

Congrats! If you are thinking about moving back now, I would be very careful with your decision. There is no leeway for you if you accepted and then broke the contract to move back home. One of my instructors lost their teaching position and they wanted every dollar they gave her back...immediately! If you aren't happy in your current job, as difficult a decision as it may be to decline, that may be the best thing if you are leaning towards moving back home. Good luck in your decision and congrats on being selected as a finalist!

Congratulations! When did you submit your application? How were about to defund that you are certified OB? Where did you get this certification? I work an OB but am not certified?

Not the person you asked, but I did OB nursing and could have certified but became an NP instead. Check out the certifications NCC offers. They do WHNP (APRN), MNN (postpartum RN), RNC-OB (inpatient obstetrics/L&D).

Thanks for your response! It looks like all these certifications are for inpatient nursing. I work outpatient in a ambulatory setting ?

I hope you accepted. You can always look to transfer your work site within a year or so to another approved site but getting it in general is beyond difficult.

I received an email yesterday afternoon (8/11 at around 3pm) in my Yahoo SPAM account from HRSA.gov notifying me that I had a new message from Bureau of Health Workforce and a link to login to read the message. I was notified that I received the NurseCorps loan repayment. I am no longer a finalist. I first received the email notifying me that I was a finalist on July 12th. It was 4 weeks and 2 days between those emails.

I saw someone on a facebook PMHNP site who was notified they were completely accepted into the NurseCorps Loan Repayment Program in a little less than 4 weeks.

I don't have much info online yet (ie: documents stating when I will receive payments, etc....) but it sounds like they will come.

I am a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP lifespan), was first a pediatric nurse practitioner and it looks like all loans from both programs were included. All loans were thru FAFSA/feds.

Stats: PMHNP with MSN, DTI: 178%, HPSA site score: 17
