  1. Are you certified in an area of womens health? I would think they would ask for verification of this by checking your CV or state license’s area of practice. For APRNs this includes being a certified nurse midwife or women’s health NP. For RNs, it would be RNC-OB, RNC-MNN, etc. I actually work in women’s health/OB as an FNP and still did not claim the women’s health certification to give myself a boost since I am not a WHNP or CNM and didn’t want to get in trouble/submit fraudulent info. From the application: “APRNs with certifications in women’s health (WHNPs and CNMs) and certified OB/GYN RNs working in OB/GYN settings in eligible CSF” are the ones who have extra money set aside. Hope this clears it up, but you can also check with the customer service folks to be sure.
  2. You were rejected from NHSC, the lump sum ($50k) program. Nurse Corps is the one where you are given a monthly amount for 2 years.
  3. Another update: I received a co-signature this morning 9/26 around 6am. No change on my portal (still says Award Accepted - Under Final Review), but my signed contract now shows my signature and that of a Grant Officer at HRSA.
  4. Well I’m not completely out yet I guess. Just received a COI…I’ll update y’all if anything happens further than this. To give anyone else hope, I’m a Tier 2 NP but not Women’s Health.
  5. Same boat. Wish they’d reject me already so I can go ahead and apply for my state loan repayment program. They require a rejection letter from a federal funding program to be considered for state.
  6. I would speak to an accountant about this if I were you. In order to cover yourself, you will need to increase your withholdings for state taxes, so you will receive less money per paycheck. Based on what you receive form Nurse Corps, it will change your income tax bracket. You will want to calculate your total income and adjust your withholdings accordingly. This would also be a good time to find ways to maximize your non taxable income, e.g. max out retirement contributions, HSA/FSA if you have them, etc.
  7. Not the person you asked, but I did OB nursing and could have certified but became an NP instead. Check out the certifications NCC offers. They do WHNP (APRN), MNN (postpartum RN), RNC-OB (inpatient obstetrics/L&D).
  8. That’s what I’ve seen. Women’s health certified RNs/APRNs seem to be the ones getting awarded with lower DTIs. They had money specifically set aside for them. Half considering going back and taking my OB certification exam since I was an OB RN before I became an NP and I still work in women’s health doing maternity/family planning…??‍♀️
  9. Good question. I’m wondering the same. From what I’ve read in previous years’ threads, if we don’t hear by next month (September), we’ve probably not been chosen to receive an award. I’m the same as you: credit check back in May, still under review. I’m tier 2 though, so I’m not terribly hopeful.
  10. That’s what I was wondering. I only applied to one program, Nurse Corp LRP, because my site is not certified as NHSC. I only received one credit check.
  11. Did you apply for both NHSC LRP and Nurse Corps LRP? Or just Nurse Corps LRP?
  12. I just received a credit check as well. I am doubtful I will end up a finalist, but I am trying to stay hopeful. I'm Tier 2, so DTI < 100%, HPSA 16, FNP. I was a maternity nurse before I became an FNP and I kick myself for not taking my OB certification since it could have put me in the "women's health" specification. Especially since I do women's health and family planning as an NP. Oh well. ?
