Hi Everyone,
I didn't see a thread created for the 2019 Nurse Corps Loan Repayment Program yet. This will be my 3rd year applying. I'm applying as a staff RN with a HPSA score of 17. Hopefully, they open the application cycle soon.
Received under final review notification on 8-16-19.
Received welcome packet on 9-5-19. Welcome packet reports it gives a monthly payout to put towards the loans.
HRSA score-21
I am APRN-CRNA practicing in a nonprofit rural critical access hospital.
Debt:income ratio-1.04
Just thought I would share my numbers for others out there to have an idea and the timeline. Very very thankful for this opportunity!

Does the welcome packet come by email? I got the email notifying me I have been awarded and that the portal has changed to participant but no welcome packet email

Did your welcome packet come to your email?
I have received my welcome packet for the Nurse Corps LRP. For those who might know, how do I find out about state tax withholding? It does not say much about it in the information, just that payments may be subject to state taxes. Does anyone know more about this? I live in Iowa. Thanks!

I called and asked and they said that federal taxes are pulled but no state taxes. And you can’t use any of the money for state taxes. I can quote their reply if you would like.

Can you please share their reply about state taxes? I've wondered about this because my state has an income tax as well. Thx!

If you are required to pay income taxes in your state, then you will also be required to pay taxes on award monies from NCLRP. It likely won't be a huge hit for 2019. But your tax preparer should be able to estimate what you would owe in 2020 and you can withhold additional state tax from each paycheck in 2020 to offset anything that you may owe for NCLRP.
Your W2 from NCLRP will have a Maryland address. You are only required to pay taxes on your state of residence/where you file.
Hope this helps.
